making adrs and changing/cancelling resort reservations

I will probably be booking a trip for Jan in the next week or so and will want to make the ADRs ASAP of course. BUT I'll be making the reservations in hopes that a promo/pin/code comes out between now and then that I can apply towards our stay. If none comes out, then we think we'll end up at SOG and paying OOP for food. If I have ADRs, but then have to cancel my resort stay, will the ADRs also be cancelled? Or can I make them w/ my phone number from the get go? How does that work? Anyone know?

I believe (it may have changed with the V2 ADR system, but doubt it) that the ADRs and resort reservations are still unlinked. That's to say, if you cancel one, the other is unaffected.

Again, it may have changed with the new system, but I highly doubt it.
