Okay, so I have been doing my homework and read that it is recommended to make ADR's 180 days in advance. Can I make reservations 180 days out if our family is NOT staying on Disney property or is that only a perk for Disney property guests?

It's for all guests.

The perk for people staying on-property is 180 + 10 days out, i.e., you can call on day -180 and make reservations for 10 days of the trip. Technically 190 days.

You will need to call each day at that specific 180-day mark for each ADR. As stated before, the perk for on-site guests is only one call for the entire vacation, up to 10 days in advance. Definitely worth calling because you can always change an ADR, but at least you have one to begin with!

I've been wondering about this. So I could call 180 days out (say that's Dec 1) and get ADRs for Dec 9 even though it's before the 180 mark?

You can call 180 days out from the first day of your reservation. So say you booked a trip from 6/5-6/11. You could call 180 days before 6/5 and book all of your ADRs for the entire stay. This is only if you are staying on property.

Something else to keep in mind and I posted this on another thread. When making the 180+10 ADRs, all tables are not released by Disney until the exact 180 mark; only a % for WDW on-site guests before the "magic" day. This means that if you don't get an ADR time that you especially are happy with, call back at the EXACT 180-day mark and try to get your most preferred time. Be sure NOT to cancel the first ADR until you have one you like better.
