I read this online. Is it true?

BOOK FASTPASS+ RESERVATION FOR 1 PERSON AND THEN ADD OTHERS
Sometimes when you're searching for FastPass+ availability, the My Disney Experience system will tell you that it can't find something for your whole group but if you just search for 1 person, it will show up, and then you can try to add other people from your group.

Yes. You may find the FP FAQ helpful, this is but one strategy discussed there.

Thank you. And it works 99% of the time? We will have 3 people in our party and a baby so for FoP we will need to do rider switch. Ok wondering if I can do 2 people and then 1 or is it easier to do all 3 and just grab the rider switch pass

As @mesaboy2 stated this is a strategy to use for some hard to get FPs but I don't know that I would agree that it works 99% of the time and it most likely will not work for FOP. Not saying it won't work but I would not count on it for the hard to get FPs like FOP & 7DMT.

I tried countless times to do that for FOP. Needed 2 FP+ and kept trying for just one. It never worked. I couldn't even get one! It's worth a shot though! It DID work when Anna and Elsa were in MK and the crowds were huge, so, like I said, it's worth trying.

Did you try right at 7am on your 60th day and was FoP the first one you tried for?
I'm so nervous I'm not going to get it. We are going to AK the 3rd day of our trip and I'm going to try for it first thing at 7am. Keeping fingers crossed that I get it. I tried planning AK for our 6th day but it just didn't work out with EMH's and our schedule.

when we did rider switch at FoP we had 4 FP+ and four people rode and we got the rider switch pass. The person not riding and staying behind with the child did not need their own FP+. I wasn't sure if this was how it always worked, but if you have 3 people, you might only need 2 FP+ in order to get the rider switch pass.

We just went to DW and a miricle happend ... I hope that this is not of topic , we were in the EE at AK and my mom checked out the MDEA and we actually got a fastpass for FOP !!! Is this often or did we just have luck ...:dogdance:

Yes, I tried on my 60th day and tried frequently thereafter up until the day we went. We went on the 2nd day of our trip (this was in late August and I had mapped out our days prior to Pandora even being open, so had no clue that the day I chose would affect our chances of getting the FP+). We did ride FOP, but the lines were long. We are going again in December and I'm aiming for day 5 or 6. If you can't get the FP+ initially, just keep trying. And if you can't get them at all, I suppose, plan to go at RD.

Yes, you can do that, but no need. We're a party of 5, and we were able to get same day FP+ for any ride we wanted, with the lone exceptions of FoP and Navi (though we did get one for each, but it took a lot of work). Everything else isn't hard at all.

I'd say it was some pretty awesome luck!!! Plans change and people do cancel, but it is pretty unusual to get a same day FOP FP!!

Yes thinking of trying rd. We are staying at AKL so the bus ride is minimal but the night before we are do EMH until 11 I think. Agh. I just pray my 13 month old will sleep in the parks that night. She won't sleep out as of now but I'm hoping she will be so exhausted that she won't have a choice.

Interesting. If anyone has insight in this please let me know because we will be needing to do rider switch quite often

I've tried this on occasion. Sometimes it works, often it doesn't in my personal experience. Didn't work at all for FoP.

Actually, in my opinion I'd say the add a guest strategy works very rarely. I've never had it open up and allow me to add more to the time slot.
However, overlapping strategy does work very well.
So yes, book 1 FP for say, 10:00-11:00, then book 1 FP for 10:10-11:10, and 1 FP for 10:15-11:15, etc. everyone can go in together once the last person's FP starts.

So smart. Good idea. Thank you

It's not as rare as you think. We got them twice on our trip at the end of August. Now, it was for 2 and it took a lot of refreshing but they were there to be found. And after I found them I was able to change the times.
