Making 1st Reservation

Our 11 month window will open up next month on July 19th for our 1st trip home next June to BLT. We will be in the Phoenix on the way to the airport to catch a plane to LAX for our DLR trip. I plan on calling MS (I have made note of the 3 hour time difference!) as we leave for the airport to make the reservation. I will be sure to have my membership ID with me and the reservation includes just my immediate family of 4. I am just checking to see if there is any other information I may need or anything that I should write down prior so I have it with me. Since I have never made a DVC ressie before I don't know the procedure. I want to make sure everything is in order so I can make the reservation. Thanks so much.

My 11 month window opened today for my first DVC stay. They asked for the names of the people staying in the room and the ages of the children. I needed my membership number and that was all. It was very easy and took less than 10 minutes.

You will need the last 4 digits of your social security number so MS can verify that it is really YOU that they are speaking with.

In this instance, I would probably use the email request form on the member website (unless you are booking a particularly hard to book room type at your home resort) rather than have to worry about calling while preparing to travel.

I didn't even think of using the on-line form although I did know it was available. I want to get a 1 Bdrm Lake View at BLT, I am thinking that is not a difficult room to get, but since I am new not 100% certain.

How does the online work, do I submit it before I leave (June 16th)? Will MS book it for me on the 19th (my 11 month mark) or is a sytem where they might do it within a couple of days. I don't mind calling if necessary to avoid the possibility that I wouldn't get what wanted.

I wouldn't submit it before the 18th. Sometimes they wait a couple of days to process, but I've also had them kick it back as too early. It may take thm a couple of days to email back the confirmation. I'm pretty sure "park view" would be the first category to book up at BLT.
