So 2 co workers were in the hallway talking about Orlando and 1 just said "My nephew made me do the Tower of Terror at Universal" :scared1:

I sooo want to go and correct him but will be a good little DISer and stay here and complain to all of you!!

What other crazy misnomers have you heard that make you cringe but you keep your mouth shut about?!?

Ok back to my regulary scheduled day

By far my biggest one (and it's really not a big deal so I don't know why it gets under my skin so bad) is when people mix up where I'm going on vacation. They're like "oh, so how many days till Disneyland" and I want to scream, you dummy, I told you like five times, it's Disney WORLD!!!! They did the same thing when I was going to Disneyland. Honestly, I don't even correct people anymore lol. Or when I say I'm goind to Disneyworld and they ask is that in CA or FL? :lmao: Only my fellow disney freaks understand, I'm so glad you're all here! :rotfl:

It bothers me when people refer to the Magic Kingdom as "Disney."

As in ... the four parks at Disney World are "Disney," "Epcot," "MGM," and um..... "The animal park."

Grrrrrrrr.

:confused3yeah, the whole disneyland vs disneyworld one gets me everytime. How hard is it to remember, seriously!

i too, try to keep my mouth shut, but have beens surprised by the number of people that actually do appreciate the correction and advice from time to time. of course, you often do get that funny look like you are crazy. when in fact, they are crazy, right? :rotfl:

or the 'we are only going for 3-4 days', we thought we might get bored if we stayed longer. :lmao:

My new neighbor just did this. I had that teeth grinding cringe. How do you live in FL and NOT know the difference. Boggles the mind.

i guess this is kind of the same thing....the other week I was in MK riding the train around and the people behind me just kept getting everything wrong, but the thing that bugged me most was when one asked the other when Walt Disney died and the other one answered " a few years ago...in the late 90's"...i turned around but I didn't say anything

That drives me crazy too, but you really can't correct it. That only leads to a conversation about how often I go to WDW and someone inevitably says they are going there in x amt of wks and where should make dining reservations. Then next thing you know I'm rambling on and on, telling them how to plan their trip, and frustrated because I know they will be the next one asking me questions about Disneyland. :headache:

Where is the monorail to Universal Studios and the MGM Grand?

The funniest one was the Osbourne lights. The guest thought it was really nice that Ozzy Osbourne would do that.

The last time were there we were sitting in a hotel lounge. It was a holiday weekend and some nearby guest were talking about maybe going to Le Cellier or another popular restaurant. They did not have reservations. We just started a polite conversation, told them that getting into Le Cellier unless you had made ADRs months ago would be very difficult and suggested some other alternatives. They were very appreciative.

:rotfl:People that aren't Disney nuts, really don't care about the difference. I no longer say that we're going to Disney World, just that we're going to Orlando. Much easier that way.

I think this is exactly what many here don't get. We are fanatics, in a good way. :goodvibes With that said, the rest of my family and friends would be happy going to "Disney" once every 10 years. Disneyland, World, that place run by a mouse, etc. etc., really doesn't mean all that much too many out there! :scared1:

I had the name wrong.
I thought the lights came from the family of Donny and Marie.

It grates on my nerves when people spend a fortune on a vacation and don't even take the time to do a few internet searches to have a little info before vacationing. That's how I found the DIS (even though I started my searches a year before our vacation).

Oh and another one was from some co-workers who thought 9 days at WDW was too much.

Meeee tooo!!!!! I really don't understand how you can spend so much on a vacation and then get there and discover that you need reservations for dining, or that there is more than one park. Seriously, how thick can ya get!?

I get harassed by coworkers as well about the length of our stay, this year we'll be gone for 12 days including flight time and when I say that we'll be in Disney the entire time people say "how boring" :scared1:

When people refer to England at EPCOT rather than the UK... wait there is little remotely Scottish, Welsh or Irish there so it would be more accurate to be called England ;)

YES!! Or, when they say, "We went to Disney and really liked that 'spiderman' ride." And, when you tell them that is not a Disney attraction, they say, "Oh, ya . . . it must have been at EPCOT."

I agree abotu the DIsneyland vs. Disney World thing.

But that beings me to a philosophical question:

Why do people say 'I'm going to Disney" when they are going to Disney World?

Being a DisneyLAND girl (maybe due to the geographical proclivity) I don't understand this. Is "world" too hard to add? Is DisneyLAND not part of the Disney Park universe? Anyone have an answer to this? It's been bothering me for a while. And maybe it applies to the confusion amongst those who just don't understand DISers.

A woman my mom worked with insisted there was a Haunted House in Disney's California Adventure. We thought she meant the Tower of Terror. NO. She just kept insisting to my mother there was a Haunted House....despite the fact that my mother kept telling her there was no haunted house at DISNEYLAND. There is a Haunted MANSION at Disneyland, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at DCA, no haunted house.

Some people......

The one that mad me sad was an acquaintance mentioned that they were going to WDW and did I have any tips. I asked "when are you going?" She answered "Next week". Okay, "where are you staying?" Oh they haven't made any reservations yet. No room, no adr's, no plans for a trip in August and they do plan on staying on Disney property.
