I'd like to make reservations for my DDs (5 & 7) for our trip in a few weeks. It looks like Studio 365 is considerably cheaper (starting at $20 vs $50 @ BBB).

Anyone have experience with either that you would like to share? We wouldn't be doing any outfits, just hair and makeup. :)

Thanks! princess:

Based purely on my observations of girls around the park because I have boys: :) The BBB does a princess theme while the other does a pop star theme. I think the BBB look is cuter while the other makes the little girls look too old for their age. Personally I don't care for the pop star look on little girls. They grow up fast enough as it is. Just my opinion though. I've never known anyone who went to either place.

You read my mind. I've been thinking of doing one or the other for my DD's next birthday. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the way they pull the girls hair back so tight at BBB.
Looking forward to reading what others with experience have to say.:)

We have done both and I truly enjoyed the experience at 365. Her hair was cute and they didnt do much make up at all- pretty much the same as at BBB. It is definitely more rock star than princess though. I will try to find a picture to show you....

Here you go-

We brought the outfit with us.

Where is studio 365? I remember seeing girls with those rainbow "extentions" when we were there 2 years ago. I didn't much care for it, so I think I'd prefer BBB -- but -- I think my daughter would LOVE it. In this case, that's what really matters so I'd like to give her the choice.

As PPs have said, 365 is more diva and BBB princess. What I wish someone had told me is that at BBB they use a massive amount of hair gel and a lot of pulling to get it ridiculously tight. My DD (who I would not call sensitive and is usually game for anything) pretty much just suffered through her time at BBB and wanted to take it out as soon as we left because it hurt. :( I can't say that 365 is any better, though - we have not gone there but see kids coming out with the same super tight look. If your girls are at all sensitive to their hair being pulled, I'd skip it altogether - you can buy all the supplies and do something yourself that looks just as cute, IMO.

As far as the issue of age appropriateness, I think that at either place they can come out looking age inappropriate. JMO.

I had the same thought as many of you - princess vs rockstar but I saw today on allears that BBB has three options and two of them were more like rock star/diva and only one was princess. I hadn't ever heard that before...

DD7 will be all for it, not sure about DD5 but since it is a trip for her birthday I figured that I better at least schedule her an appointment!

Dance - precious picture of your daughter, thanks for sharing. I tried to google for photos but didn't have much luck. Does anyone know, at BBB do they actually style your hair or do they pull it back and put a hairpiece on?

I agree about the tight hairstyles--what is up with that? The fastest way to get a screaming headache is to pull your hair back way too tight! And since when does Princess=super tight bun? I really don't get the logic.

I took my girls when they were younger to Libby Lu (use to be that before 365)--and they both got their hair done. It was the same tight hairstyles--and they didn't even make it through dinner that night with their hair like that. I ended up taking them to the bathroom at Goofy's kitchen and took out a million bobby pins from each of them and gave them both a head massage before going back to the table! I felt so sorry for them.

Now when I see the little girls at DL with the BBB hair I can't help but think "ouch!".

My daughter did the 365 makeover in May and when we go in December she'll do BBB. 365 pulled her hair back so tight her head hurt for 2 days. They put so much glitter in her hair it was EVERYWHERE for months, and I love glitter, but this was too much. The clothes are cute, but the don't have things that match or even look good together. Wait, they have some things, but my daughter found two skirts she liked but there was nothing in the store that looked good with either one. It was very disappointing for her, but she still looked pretty darn cute and we LOVE the outfit she ended up with. Also, the staff is wonderful, just tell them go easy on the head!!!

BBB does the same tight hair thing. Not sure why it I wll say the style lasted from both palces for a good 2-3 days even with seeping and swimming!

We did the pop star option (or whatever they call it) at BBB and it was still hair pulled tight and a hair extension clipped over it or wrapped around it. It was cute too.

I did a blog on this for the DIS:

That style lasted a long time and my daughter did not have any issues with the tightness. A couple weeks ago, she got the 19.99 one and the "bow" came out by the end of the night.

To tell you the truth, your value is really going to be on what your child will be happy with. I'm not crazy about the rock star look, but my daughter loves it and we save money. Win - Win.
