Makeover for an adult with disabilities

BBB sashes are only available to BBB participants. Since BBB has age limitations, adults do not have access to to sashes.

As mentioned above, Disney has a costume policy for all guests, limiting how close they may dress to representing Disney characters and staff. Disney does not want guests to impersonate Disney characters or cast members or for other guests to be confused about who is representing Disney.

A number of people participate in "Disney bounding," wearing clothing that is inspired by various Disney characters.

The reasons why an adult with a disability may be allowed to do BBB has also been discussed here before.
I have seen adults wanting to have a BBB makeover but not actually being allowed to have one post-COVID. Rules at DS in the past may have been different but that no longer applies.

Disney does not want there to be any confusion about who is an “actual” princess (CM) and who is merely a guest in costume. Hence the rules about adults in costumes - and the BBB makeovers. It’s a slippery slope to say X disability gets an exemption but Y does not. Hence the blanket denial for all adults outside of very narrow circumstances (that are not disability related).

The OP has posted in multiple threads looking for someone to tell her that it is ok. So far no one has. I understand why she wants the answer to be yes but I don’t understand why asking this time may be different when she has already been told that it is not permitted.

It’s perfectly ok to ask for this. This was said before, but I just said it again so you see it. I saw multiple adults my last trip to DS in princess costumes. Not a single one would confuse anyone old enough not to have a parent at their side that they were a real princess. There are exceptions made, and you have no ability to say there are none that were for disability related. You may certainly state your opinion, but not make up facts you have no way of knowing.

This person is asking specifically asking about Disney Cruises.

I think Pirate League will do adults on Pirate Night day on a cruise. But it would be a Pirate makeover and not a princess one. But that is the only time they will do makeovers on adults.

Unless it has changed, you can pop in for a pixie dusting other days, but that is all you get - just pixie dusting at the check-in counter. No make-over or hair fixing.

And even more explicitly:
https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/faq/kids-teens/bibbidi-bobbidi-pirates-league-age/

What are the age requirements for an appointment at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or The Pirates League?
A:

The experiences at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and The Pirates League are limited to specific age groups :

  • Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique – Guests ages 3 to 12
  • The Pirates League – Guests ages 3 and older
Guests ages 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older.
Thank you sooo much

Can an adult with disabilities do BBB even over the age limit on a Disney Cruise

I apologize for this question

And can an adult wear the BBB sash
No. BBB on the cruise has the same age limits as the parks. The exception is the day of Pirate Night when any age can do a pirate makeover (not princess). You can stop by for pixie dust anytime.

You might look into having an up-do at the Salon. They may be able to give you a similar hairstyle as BBB. I don’t know that they do make-up but you can have a separate appointment for your nails.

You can wear a sash, nobody will stop you. But it’s unlikely you’ll be able to purchase one onboard. I suggest finding someone on Etsy who can make what you want.

Thank you sooo much.

Everyone for your answers

As I read all of the posts

I saw that BBB won’t let adults with disabilities do the makeovers.

Which is unfortunate but I saw in your guys post

that the pirates league does pirate makeovers
For adults

Which is really really cool

I apologize for all of these posts it’s because

I’m are a huge fan of BBB

And just to state a fact
I don’t have a child I forgot to mention that

Because I want to let you guys know that

I’m sorry about that I hope I didn’t get off on the wrong foot with you guys

BBB is my absolute favourite but you guys are right there’s an age limit for the princess makeover

That’s why I get the BBB sashes and accessories from second hand

I just curious if I can wear the BBB sash on board with normal clothes no costume I was wondering if I’m allowed to wear it

Without a costume

I saw that these posts about how I wasn’t allowed to wear just the BBB sash with the hair accessories on board because I can confuse guests

I could be wrong I’m really sorry about that

I feel bad because I saw everyone getting into a debate about the princess costumes and The makeover

I didn’t expect that

Because someone told me on Facebook two years ago that there was a forever child for a BBB makeover. I feel misled by that person on Facebook at the time because I’m being told. That there’s no exceptions. I understand that us adults
Cannot be wearing full princess costumes because we don’t want to mislead the guests thinking are CM

Which I forgot to mention that I would only wear normal clothes with the sash and hair accessories

That I would bring with me.

I don’t have a child at all which I forgot to to mention ( please don’t get mad at me for this because I forgot to mention this because I saw some posts that it said she in some of the posts

I’m going with my support worker in 2028 for my birthday. That’s why I was asking if I was allowed to wear the BBB sash. And hair accessories

On the cruise. I didn’t mean to cause a debate about this I feel so bad and I apologize for those out there if I didn’t mention this before

You are amazing thank you for standing up for me. I saw that this was getting very heated

Do I need to remind posters to be kind? This is the disABILITIES Forum and I would think we all know to use patience in dealing with others who may have disabilities.
As I saw in this thread many people were getting heated about this topic

Saying it was answered

And I want to mention that I’m just asking a question that’s all because I need ideas for my cruise in 2028

I was being told the I cannot wear a BBB sash that I would bring one with me

That I bought secondhand 3 years ago

The sash is an accessory. It’s not a costume

And I was told that’s there was an forever child for an adult to get a princess makeover. This was three years ago. I saw that on Facebook 3 years ago

But everyone kind of got upset with me saying it was answered

I understand it was answered

I can’t speak to the actual post you saw, but it is an example of something often mentioned here. When a CM goes “above and beyond” to make magic by bending the rules or doing something special - that’s great, for that individual/family. However when they post about it publicly, others think it should be granted to them. It’s a snowball effect and leaves someone feeling they’ve been left out or excluded. When it was never a “typical” experience that anyone should expect to be repeated.

So asking might get some “pixie dust” (meaning a special exception) but it cannot be guaranteed.

Thank you sooo much for the clarification I didn’t realize

I don't know if you will be going to the Magic Kingdom on your trip at all, but adults can make appointments at the Harmony Barber Shop - they don't do updos but you can get a haircut and they will put "pixie dust" in your hair at the end of your appointment if you request it. (Or pop by the "Sir Mickey's" shop in Fantasyland and ask for a pixie dusting from Cast Members there....)

I also know it isn't the same as a sash but you can also get celebration buttons either at Walt Disney World or on your Disney Cruise....

I hope you have a wonderful trip, either way- it sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun to plan for and to look forward to in 2028!
