Make Your Own Luck - March 2025 W.I.S.H. Thread

The time change is hitting really hard this morning, so I'm grateful I'm still working from home and could roll out of bed at 8a and sign-in, but I'm barely awake.

My motivation this week... I need to figure out organized exercise There is a fitness club a couple blocks away, but the only classes I'm seeing in the evenings is Zumba a couple days. And there's a yoga place but their evening classes are mostly hot yoga, which I don't think is for me. I'm reluctant to commit to weekend exercise classes, but it might have to be that way to get enough exercising in.

Also, I had thought I'd use going to knit night at one of the yarn shops for socializing but then stopped knitting because it was triggering running eyes and nose, but I'm thinking I'll do it anyway just so I can meet people.

I am very motivated right now. I have reflected back to the first 6 weeks of the year, and I am realizing why I didn’t make a lot of progress. Being post menopausal does not help my weight loss. So I have to basically be perfect. I can’t deviate whatsoever from my diet and exercise. I used to be able to be less strict, especially on the weekends. No more cheat days.

So…now that I have accepted what I’m dealing with, I need to be on point with plenty of vegetables and fruits and lots of movement.

Today it was a gorgeous day in the low 60’s, so recess was a pleasure. The sun was shining and it got so warm that I didn’t need a coat. It felt so good being outside in the sunshine. It really changed how the rest of my day went. Then after school I attended my community mindfulness class. It was so relaxing that I almost fell asleep again like last week. We tried a new meditation using sound. It was so cool. I really want to try a sound bath.

When I got home from school, I just wanted to collapse, but instead I chopped vegetables and made my vegetable fruit smoothie. I am so glad I did.

Tomorrow I am off for my appointment to get my crown on my tooth. DH is off too for his physical. Maybe we will see a movie afterwards depending on how I am feeling.

Happy Tuesday!!!! This little guy was sooooo cute I just had to share him today!!! Why are rolls so cute on dogs and babies but not on me?!?! Ugh.

🌻It sounds like everyone is enjoying spring like weather this week…so I thought it would be fun to share what we are all most looking forward to for spring! 🌸 Do you have something you do each spring that you can’t wait to start again? Or trying something new this year?🌼

I am excited for the sunshine and being able to walk with DH in the evenings after dinner! I know it seems simple but the past 2 days have been great being able to be outside together enjoying the later sunset and warmer weather!

Have a great day everyone and enjoy the Sun!!!! ☀️

I would love to walk after work but I have zero energy after school. I have the most energy after I have my coffee in the morning, but my household is too hectic for me to walk on the treadmill. I have no problem on the weekends because then I’m not in anyone’s way.

As far as spring is concerned, I look forward to starting our Resistance Garden. I am looking forward to planting seeds with my students and doing all of the fun spring activities.

I'm also looking forward to additional time in the evenings to walk. Yesterday my body started screaming for red meat and the only place open that serves steak was down at the waterfront. Sitting there I realized how life here isn't oriented to the water the way my old town was. When I start taking the ferry to work I'll get my water fix again, but in the meantime, I need to do more exploring and find parks to walk in that have trails along the water.

Over the weekend I got three pots for the deck and I'm really looking forward to planting them, but the good plants won't be available for a while. But it'll be fun to be able to put together whatever I want, without concern that the deer will get to them, and to be able to see and enjoy them sitting on the sofa.

We have a busy spring this year. DD is graduating so in about 2 month we will start to have all the end of the year awards and such. Then graduation and her party not long after that.

I am loving the weather. We just got back from taking a campus tour of a college is a really good possibility that she will go to. It was nice to walk around outside without a winter coat and I was even able to take my sweatshirt off and just have a tee shirt on. THey have the best dorm room I have seen so far. Each room have a living room, a full kitchen with a dishwasher, a eating area, 2 bathrooms with 4 sinks (sinks are not in the bathroom) and 4 bedroom with a door that locks (each student gets their own and they have full size beds and about the size of a regular bedroom).

Was nice here today as well, enjoyed picking DD up from her after school club without shivering!
Looking forward to being able to use the breezeway again and Saturday evening dinners on the back patio. Need to get out to get some seeds for this year…hopefully spring won’t get too hot and kill my salad greens again

That sounds amazing!

Woohoo... bonuses came out and they were very, very good. For the most part it will stay in the bank, but I did treat myself to some very nice seat cushions for the wicker chairs on the deck and will get an outdoor rug to go with. And woohoo... the Ace Hardware we have in town is great and is where I'll go to find the rug. It is so nice to be able to find that sort of thing without it being a half day commitment.

Woohoo... I managed to get a breakfast reservation at Topolino's. It's at 7:45a (ugh) but ECPCOT should be opening around the time I'm done, so it'll be a treat to just hop back on the Skyliner. I was also able to snag a reservation for the Rhino tour, something I've wanted to do for quite a while.

Helloooooo and Welcome to Thursday!!!

What are you feeling thankful for today?

I am thankful that my oldest son has been blessed with a great new career opportunity which started on Monday and he’s loving it so far! I am so happy for him and his family!

Also feeling thankful for ending another work week and still being employed…and dare I say it feels like things are “cooling off” as far as folks losing their jobs, I pray this is true and not just a feeling I have!!

Have a great day everyone!!!

Trying to dig deep for a thankful... yesterday was really rough at work with somethings coming to a head. Hopefully that means there are going to be some course corrections and improvement that I'll be thankful for when they happen.

I'm also thankful that the apartment is slowly coming together. At some point I hope I'll stop feeling like I live in a hotel.

This morning every cell in my body is screaming "thank god it is Friday". It's been a hard push at work the past two weeks to get some things straightened out and I can finally let go a bit and get back to my "regular" work. Plus, I've been feeling crappy and decided yesterday that I've actually been sick, it wasn't just the crud that comes from not taking care of myself.

I'm really trying to do community things to get to know this new place I live in. Saturday I'm thinking of walking into town (it's a whole four blocks to the main business street) and going to the art museum and then possibly getting lunch. Sunday, I want to go to the nature preserve for a good long walk. Or another thing I've been thinking I need to do is to take the ferry over to the Seattle side as a practice run, I just haven't come up with anything I have to do over there.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Very exciting plans to go to the accountant and pick up our taxes. But it’s down the street from the only a&w in the area and it’s tradition to stop there on the day we pick up our return docs.
Got a haircut today and tried out a new Mac and cheese recipe for Easter the results of which will be available tomorrow. Tried to make arinccini(?) for dinner but they kind of fell apart so that was sort of a bust…will have to try them again at some point.
