Make your own fashion flip flops.......

You know the ones with the fabric tied to the tops? I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for them. I want to make my own. Anybody know how? Do you just cut fabric into strips? If so, how long, how wide?
Anyone have a good site or directions?

4-6 inches long, 1/2 inch wide or so. Try and see if you like the look, then adjust. Just keep tying till you like it. Textured yarn works well also.

Make sure to double knot also!!

We did this with ribbons...I did a google search for make your own or ribbon or tie flip flops [can't remember, I had to keep searching]. Anyway, it was 5" strands. About 10 yards per pair I think...this is for ribbon so probably less for fabric.

My girls love them but the ribbons tend to 'shed' [we find them every now and again on the floor].

I just went out and bought the stuff for these yesterday along with t-shirts for the kids to paint (yearly tradition) for when school gets out.
