Make them leave me alone!

Is there a full moon or something?? I have been bombarded with telemarketers, door-to-door solicitations, and the like for several days straight! It's like suddenly I'm the only one left with a phone or a front door!

Now before anyone says to use the caller ID to weed out the crazies...I DO. But my home number is my business number so I have to answer the phone if it's a number I do not recognize or if it says "unavailable" (could be new business).

Today I've gotten 5 telemarketers and one door-to-door solicitor trying to get me to join some National Federation of Independent Businesses. Yesterday was another 3 or 4 telemarketers, 1 political call, and the Jehovah's Witnesses (who come to my house at least once month.)

I want to sit out on my porch in a rocking chair with a shotgun laid across my lap, wearing a housecoat and pink slippers and curlers in my hair cackling madly. Maybe "crazy-old-lady" might keep them away.

Don't you have an answering machine for your business? I don't have a business, but most of the time here at the lake I use my answering machine to screen calls because I don't have Caller ID..

Of course. But this is a place of business. I don't screen calls with the answering machine, I answer the phone when it rings...it could be a potential new customer, and in this business very often if the person calling doesn't reach you business on the first try, they'll move on to the next one on the list.

It was just a whole lot of nuisance interruptions over the last few days. I'm feeling much better now...promise!

I'm actually quite polite to telemarketers. I understand they are just doing their jobs and always thank them but tell them no thanks and to put us on their DO NOT CALL LIST.

Annoying phone calls - especially since I have a private number - is a big pet peeve of mine.. Thank goodness I have an answering machine or I'd probably rip the phone right out of the wall..

and someone please stop the flow of catalogs!!!! I must get 4-5 a day, no lie. I just pile them up and put them in recycling, but enough is enough. So much waste.
