Make old Magic Bands inactive?

We are headed to WDW in February, and I just noticed our Magic Bands from our last trip are showing up on MDE as active, with an option to make them inactive. Has anyone had trouble using their new Magic Bands if they left their old ones active? Or do you recommend I change the status of the old ones to inactive?

I don't know that it even matters, I just noticed and thought I'd ask. Thank you! :earsboy:

I've read others' experiences that if they had several magic bands per person (I want to say 7+ at least) then there may be issues. Personally I have 3 bands for me listed as active and I've not had a problem. If your bands are less than 2 years old than both the close range and far range RFID should work. You should be able to use magic bands from both trips for your February one.

There have been reports that having multiple active bands (7 or more seems to be the inflection point) CAN be an issue. Personally not had a problem. We were there in October. I have 15 active Magic bands (lots of split stays), and had several with me. No problems, every band worked for everything. There's no particular reason to deactivate old bands.

I think the option to deactivate a band is more for security reasons should a band be lost/stolen/misplaced. Even if you deactivate a band, it will still show in MDE, and can be readily re-activated.

We've got probably a dozen MB's and have no problem at all. No reason to deactivate the old ones.

It seemed like most of the problems were from a while ago. I wonder if they fixed the problem.

We have 5-6 active, and we didn't have a problem.

They haven't fixed the problem but they know and have trained cms for how to deal with it now. it doens't start until you have about 20ish bands and/or cards in assigned to you. What they do is delete out the oldest bands.

95% of us will probably never experience the issue. There is nothing to worry about or do to avoid it.

I am one of those that have a problem with my MB and Accident is right I would not worry until you get 15-20 MB and cards but with 2 you can get two different colors and wear what one match your out fit.

We have several bands that are active bands and never had problems.

You can deactivate the old ones & take to the resort for them to recycle them. My sisters MB had an issue when we stayed at YC in 2015. They had to go through and deactivate 10 of the MB before hers would work. They recycled all the ones we brought with us.

My son has broken his Magic Band twice, so the wife brings the old bands as insurance; otherwise the front desk will issue a new grey one. She might also use the old ones to color coordinate with what she wearing.
