Hello We will be staying at GKTW for my sons Make A Wish trip the week after next- We live in So Cal and have season tickets to DL and I know DW is soooo different but I'm trying to plan the MUST SEE/DO things! Would love to know- - can any parks be done the same day Animal King and Epcot? - Epcot good for kids (2, 7, 11) - best place to eat in each park? - crowds start to slow any the last week in Aug? Any helpful tips for a Disney loving family but newbie to DW! Thanks!

Well let me just say, as a DL veteran and a So Cal native myself, the hardest thing to adjust to that time of year is the heat and humidity. We are just not use to that here in CA. We, (family of 5, mom, dad and 3 kids) have been to WDW 3 times at the end of August. I believe it is just too miserable to try to stay at the park all day. To me the most important tip is to be there at RD, enjoy to park until lunch time, return to the resort for pool and rest time, then return to the park for night time fun. We always did that and really enjoyed it. I also believe that AK and HS could be half day parks for a return visitor, but for a first time visitor, and especially with younger ones, I think it is best to allow a full day. When we have been in late Aug, the crowds were very manageable, especially if you are there at RD. In my opinion, very important, I would not go in Aug. and not be there at RD. Get the most done before it gets too hot. I would say don't miss the Lion King Show at AK, that is great and something we don't have here in CA. MK still has Country Bear Jamboree, so we like to see that for old time sake. If you can, have a meal at Be Our Guest, that is a real treat. My kids are older so I am not the best one to give you advise on shows that younger ones might enjoy. If you have not yet discovered EasyWDW, it is a website with crowd calendars and a lot of great reviews and info. I hope you have a wonderful trip, if you love DL, you are going to love WDW. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions I may be able to help you with.

First, let me say :welcome: Congrats on the wish trip!! You all will have the time of your lives. I've never been in Aug, so I'm sorry I can't help you. I also have twins w/ epilepsy, so can't help w/ must do rides either lol. If you have any questions about GKTW, I may be able to help. You will have front of the line pass, so that will help you get through the parks quicker. To get through two parks, I'd say your best bet is Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios on same day. Are you going to Universal also?

Plan to spend a lot of time at give kids the world village it's an amazing place. There is much to do there. My son had a make a wish trip there also. Yes for your age kids both parks can be done in one day. Animal kingdom must do's are Kilimanjaro Safari and lion king show. Epcot turtle talk with crush and nemo ride. Have a great time. If you need any help planning message me.

We did a Wish trip at the end of August, as well. Prepare for the heat and humidity!

My biggest tip is not trying to fit all 7 parks into your trip. We did Sea World on Monday, both Universal parks on Tuesday, Magic Kingdom on Wednesday, Animal Kingdom on Thursday, and Epcot and Hollywood Studios on Friday. Boy, that was rough! If I had it to do over again, we would NOT have used all the tickets GKTW gave us (and they WILL give you tickets for all 7 parks).

I hope you have the best time ever. GKTW is the best (my daughter never wanted to leave, not even to go to the parks).

Thanks everyone!
I do have a question- someone I thought told me we would get tickets for Legoland or Sea World to use at another time? Like within a year- does that sound right?
I think we are going to skip Sea World since my kids go to San Diego Sea World and our flight leaves at 5pm ok Sat so we will hang out at GKTW on Sat till 2ish and then most evenings is our plan:)
My boys are most excited about Universal for sure!!
Thanks for the info! Countdown is on:)
