I am so hoping that someone can please help :-)

I have a family friend that is only 25 years old and has been battling stage 4 lymphoma for the past year. He is not unfamiliar with being sick because he went through a liver transplant when he was younger and has endured years of not being well because of that. He is an only child and lives at home with his mom and dad and they are not financially well off. He is a hard working kid (he actually works with my husband) who graduated nursing school and worked full time up until recently when he had to go out of work.

He has an incredibly positive attitude and is an all around wonderful and caring person and it is absolutely heart breaking what he is going through. This past year has been an extreme rollercoaster and unfortunately yesterday had to have been the worst day of his life. He called my husband in the morning overjoyed because he got the results of his recent test and he was in remission..............only to get a call later that evening by the same doctor to tell him that she had given him the wrong results and he in fact was not in remission and needs to go through more treatments. His family spent the day elated by the initial news only to be crushed and devastated. It is unbelievable that something like that could even happen.

I have tried to help them out as best as we can, but I would love to help this family take a family vacation together somewhere. I researched online and most adult wish organizations have specific guidelines, none of which he would fall under (some examples were: less than one year to live, live in a certain area, are a senior citizen or wanting an outdoors/hunting adventure).

Any guidance or information that you could offer would be greatly appreciated

Thanks & sorry for such a long post!

Should I have posted this somewhere else?? The reason I posted this here is because I have a son with Down syndrome and a son with food allergies, so I know how everyone here is so knowledgeable and helpful.

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated! :lovestruc

Right forum. :) You just did have anyone read your post yet who had the answer.

I found these lists by searching for "wish organizations for adults" on bing. There are more listed

Thanks for the sites! Unfortunately I keep hitting the same road block with these sites that I found with any other sites I have found so far. They are very specific to who they grant wishes to. They are limited to the elderly, only women, you must only have less than one year to live (I don't know if they have made that determination yet) or you must live in a certain area.

Thanks again, I will keep searching :-) I know there has to be something out there for him.

Thanks again Eeyore5!!! We are in South Jersey and unfortunately all of the hospitals listed with that group are in northern NJ.

Thanks again for all of your help . I am sad to say that our friend has been hospitalized and right now we are praying for his recovery.

Don't have time for a long reply before I go to work, but wanted to point you toward post 3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread - under the WISH trip information in that post, there are some links to the best known WISH organizations for adults. Don't know if you already found them in your search, but adding this info just in case. As you found out, there are not many organizations for adults; I'd these can't help, it might still be worth contacting them to see if they know of any other resources in your area.

I have also heard of people having fund raises thru their church, service organizations like Rotary, Lions and Kiwanas, or even businesses. This is especially true in small towns where everyone knows the family and their situation.
