What characters are available at breakfast and dinner? Are the meals worth it? We always do them at Disneyworld and I'm not sure we need character interaction in Hawaii. So much else to do. With a full kitchen, I'm not sure how many meals we'll need to eat at restaurants. I'm hoping to save some money by eating in the villa.

Do it only if you like the sound of the food, in my opinion. We really liked the food options (a mix of local, Asian, and American stuff), and my kids and husband are big eaters, so I could justify the cost - but exactly once each in an 8 night stay. You will see characters all over, scheduled and unscheduled, so I'm not sure I would do it for that reason; by the end of our stay, my kids just gave a casual wave to Goofy or Chip n Dale or whoever, very blase and used to them! The Aunty or Uncle aspect didn't matter in the slightest to my kids, who were far more interested in the buffet than joining in songs/parades/stories. We did breakfast on our first morning, before we'd had a chance to go to the store.

Great plan, I booked a late breakfast on our first morning. Then I don't have to worry about our empty fridge.

My kid is 3. And we have Disneyland passes and go 3-4 times a month. But he LOVED it. It surprised us because he is shy around the characters at Disneyland. Yet, he really responded well to the Aunty led activities. He's a a reserved guy, but was immediately out of his seat dancing, following Aunty around doing the activities and playing along with the singing and playing instruments.

So it depends. We saw Pluto and Minnie during our breakfast- with a Mickey meet and picture at the beginning. This character breakfast was vastly different from the two character breakfasts at Disneyland - far more kid activities. I liked this one more. The food was fine- but the 3 year old really dug this experience. Not sure it would be worth it if you didn't have young kids.
