We were scheduled to take our third 7 day cruise this summer, which I booked on-board last summer. I originally booked for my daughter and me. A while ago I added my nice. Today I called to add the baby we will be adopting (I just learned of her this week). There are NO 4-capacity rooms left on our cruise, at any category. I can't cancel and I can't go without the baby!! The CM's were very unhelpful as to any options whatsoever. I am so bummed. We already have plane reservations, and a 6 day stay at SSR thru DVC after the cruise. If I have to cancel the cruise and still want to vacation, any suggestions of what we can do in Florida over those 7 days???????

Did you have them put your name on a waiting list? That way if anyone cancels you can get their room. I just wouldn't be too picky on which type of room.

Good Luck.

Congratulations on the impending adoption! Have you looked into 2 adjoining, or close, cabins?

I believe there is a theme park based resort in Florida, I'm spacing the name.......

(Can you explain to your niece that you won't be able to take her along and that she can come next time?)

I am on the wait list and said that I would take any category. I can't get adjoining cabins as we are 1 adult and 3 childnen. Leaving my neice back after all the anticipation would only create resentment against the baby!!
~Still brewing in California

Can you find another adult that would be willing to go with you and then you could get two cabins?

Congratulations on the adoption! What are terrible situation to be in with DCL though. Perhaps when you reach the 60 day window, there will be cancellations. I would call that date to check.

Would they consider letting you stay in a 3 person room, as the baby would take up a small amount of space with a travel crib?

Good luck & keep us updated!

I think Cruisin'Kroezes has it right.

Add, don't subtract.

One more adult and another room.

Jim

AS for the three person room, they said no way.....a baby is a person regardless of size (True, but besides the point!!) They offered NO solutions or ideas. I think Im stretching it with three kids.....adding another cabin would be too much. The baby will only be 6 months old in August. I can't beleive they can't accomodate us, or ever TRY to!! We were so excited. Something may come up at the 60 day mark, it's just awfully late to make plans!!!!!!

People cancel reservations all the time. I'd check back every few days. I'm sure something will open up for you!

Sending you pixie dust!

One thing I have learned from these boards is if you don't get a good response from one telephone CM, try again...perhaps Monday you could try again, hoping for a more "outside the box" CM!

Perhaps you deserve a splash of pixie dust.............here is hoping!!!!!!!

Good luck,
Barbara

can you change dates. some airlines don't charge for change of dates or may charge a small amount. also, it is a law that they must have a bed regardless of age for every passenger. that doesn't include the crib. i don't understand the law but for whatever reason it is the law:confused:

What about asking another DIS member if they are on your sailing and could list your niece on their cabin? We did this back in January and the third child stayed with her parents and 2 sisters but was "booked" with another friend of ours. There was no problem at all. Also, what about changing your dates and booking the cruise after your SSR dates?
Just trying to give you other ideas..........congrats on the adoption! Have you picked a name yet? :Pinkbounc

Thanks for all the Pixie Dust. I'm sure it'll help (wouldn't the baby's room be cute in a tinkerbell theme???) I'm wait it out a bit. Someone will cancel. It was just SOOO frustrating when I'm trying to get so much in order so quickly. The week after the cruise is booked, and after that, we're into school. Will keep checking. Thanks all!!!

Anyone sailing 8/21/04 want to book an extra 12 year old in your room!?!?!?!?

talicskai - what a great idea! You probably had to check in at the same time, yes?

jweiss - Congratulations on your adoption! What wonderful news - I must say, as some have said, call again and get a different CM - If you don't like what you hear, maybe ask for a supervisor?

You can look at the cruise list to see who is going on your cruise - You might be able to find someone that way -

Best of luck and plenty of pixie dust to you -

Karen

jweiss..Congratulations on the adoption! How wonderful!Boy or girl?

About a year ago a DIS member had a situation like yours. She was given a gift of a cruise for 4, but needed at add her youngest child who because of medical problems could not be left behind.
If you can get someone on the cruise to list one of the children in their cabin it can work. The child would be in the cabin on paper ONLY. Of course you would need to pay the additional fare, and reservation fee. The child might need to attend the life boat drill with his/her DIS friends, but otherwise there is no problem. I think this was originally sugesseted by a CM at DCL.

Keep checking, something is bound to open up. In the mean time, put "Plan B" into action and find others cruiseing the same time as you, and see if anyone can help.

I feel your pain...
I just changed my 3 day Wonder cruise to a 4 day. People will start to see they have weddings or other obligations and will change the date of their cruise. So keep positive that something will come up. Now I don't know if Disney will keep an eye on this for you or not but here is how you do it yourself.

It is very easy to search stateroom availablity- You can also do a broad search (eg all cruises in July) and see if another sailing can accomodate you. They don't charge you to change your reservation, even if you change it to a shorter cruise.
Do you have anyone that could keep the baby during your vacation? (long shot that you may not be comfortable with, I know)

What about asking another DIS member if they are on your sailing and could list your niece on their cabin? We did this back in January and the third child stayed with her parents and 2 sisters but was "booked" with another friend of ours. There was no problem at all.
Just make sure you tell DCL what you are doing so they know who is sleeping where so all the appropriate lifeboat/lifevest plans are made for your cabin- (They don't care if you have 4 or 5 in your room- they just won't let you book that way- I wish it were different- it would save me a ton of money)

If you found someone to list your child you would need to meet at the pier so you could get your daughters ticket. We told them at check-in and they were issued another KTTW card with no problems. Just inform the cabin steward so they will bring you an extra life vest and they can go to the drill with your family. I hope you find someone willing to do this. It was no big deal for our friends to list the child even though they had never seen her before! It saved our other friends tonnes of money! Good Luck and sending all my pixie dust your way (I kept a bit for myself)hahaha :teeth:

CheapMom, I went to the Cruise Locator site, to the Cruise Search, and I didn't see any place to click to keep searching. It's just a screen that tells you all about it all about how you can search, but I couldn't find any links to go forward.

Any tips?

sorry- it is a bit confusing-
click nwa worldperks, than "cruise vacation search" on the first line of that page- than click non worldperk member
you will get it from there
put in your dates, number of people...
then a page will come up with the different categories available-
you can hit select to see which staterooms are available for that category and that sailing.
good luck
