I booked the Dolphin a few weeks ago, under ALLEARS rate of 149 for the first few nights and on 12/25 holiday rates kick in(269 standard at the time I called). I later needed to verify the rate change and found out it had dropped to 169, an Expedia rate. Well, after days of trying to get it figured out, today I was contacted by "KAYLA" from the Dolphin reservations. She explained to me that the agent who took my ressies is a "top of the line employee" and that she found the rate and applied it to our ressies!:goodvibes :wizard: Kayla would not release the agents name, but I am going to call the Dolphin and tell them to please let me know who it is as I wish to thank her, (and I plan on giving her a little Xmas goodie)
So, for anyone wondering if the Dolphin has "magic" like the WDW owned resorts, my answer is without a doubt...ABSOLUTELY!
We are going to enjoy a split stay with a few nights at WL before, (we got the E-mail rate of 121 woodview) looks like we have our cup running over w/pixie dust!
I just wanted to fill everyone in on how great the Sheraton properties can be...we did a 3 night Dolphin only, no parks :( stay there last Dec., and it was WONDERFUL! SO wonderful, that we could have booked P/C @ 49 for our whole trip, and DH said, I think I speak for all of us when I say, book the Dolphin again!:teeth:
WOO-HOO!!! It all worked out...I feel as good as C.Ann today!!!!!!!!

Congrats onthe great rates....I'm hoping for an AAA or AP rate for Dec 10,11...we have a 1 bdrm suite on points and if I could get a good discount maybe I'd upgrade to a 2bdrm suite...

Cool Beans Pam! I also received "magic" courtesy of the Swan! When I made my September ressie for the $139 rate for a standard room (this was a different rate from the one out now with the free upgrade) I told the CM how much we enjoyed our stay in March and how impressed I was with the service I received and how much I loved the room. We are Starwood Gold members and I planned to ask for an upgrade when we checked in (which I did not tell her.) For some reason I checked my ressie today and she upgraded me to resort view with balcony! For those famiiar, that's like a three category upgrade! Darn, I forgot her name, but I plan on calling Monday to find out and thank her. :)

VERY COOL treehugger...we are gold card holders too, and I was raving about how impressed we are with the Dolphin to Kayla...that the service there is over the top and that is why we chose to come back there over all the other resort choices...I just hope I can get the agents name...or at least the resort can get our thank you and gift to her. Resort view balcony room...SCORE!!!! Hard to stay "standard" after that...:teeth: however, I would, in a heartbeat!

See how the Disney magic rubbed off on the Swan and Dolphin, just by being on Disney property? :jumping1:

Well, my upgrade would be the equivalent of having the Poly upgrade me to a lagoon view for free, that'll happen ~ NOT. I'll be happy if they put me in the longhouse I requested.:)

I don't think any magic rubbed off on the S/D. They make their own magic--and have for years.

It's just that people are finally willing to give them a try after so much negativity towards them on this board over the years (They aren't Disney owned--no magic--too business--I could go on and on.

Do you know that when we (The Original SD Cheerleaders) first started posting about the S/D a few years ago, we were verballyattacked (yes, really) on these boards on a regular basis just because, in our opinion, the S/D were as good as all of, and better than some of, the Disney owned resorts.

Go figure.

Well Poohlvr, the way I see it, you sure knew a good thing when you saw it! We were able to try the Dolphin @ the Travelzoo rate of $99 last December...up 'till then our budget allowed values and moderates. But boy, are we glad we were able to discover the Dolphin, and also thankful I had not seen the negative posts you mention. Great help pages by you all, BTW! Keep up the great posts!

Pam

Thanks for the kind words.
Actually, tho, the Cheerleaders rarely post over here, any longer.
Certainly, we don't as a group, We were too chatty and had to move to the CB (Which we love BTW) but, I've noticed that other chatty groups can now stay.
Go figure.

I actually got to stay at the S/D for the first time throught Priceline (several yrs agao) for 85.00.
I really thought we would get a less than spectacular room, so imagine my surprise when we walked into a room on the 9th floor, with a balcony and a straight ahead view of Spaceship Earth!

We sat out there many nights, watching the fireworks, and knew that we would never want to stay anywhere else. And, now, we don't.

In all of my many stays at the Swan AND the Dolphin, I have never not received an upgrade, to at least a resort view with a balcony. Once, it faced the Studios, rather than Epcot, but, other than that, it's been an Epcot view each time.

Gotta love it.

Amazing.....

I am so happy that we tried the S/D, and I have people like you, Poohlvr to thank. Any misconceptions I had about staying at a non Disney-owned property were quickly dissolved when I checked in for my first stay. We were treated with respect and kindness from the front desk to the housekeepers. They bent over backwards to accomodate us and that speaks volumes! Both properties "get it", they know that we have many choices and this is reflected throughout. So again, thank you and all the other S/D cheerleaders for turning me into a convert.
