BTW, Warren himself issued a stament a while back saying that he is basically a fraud and not a real *prophet*..

Let me tell you folks, the group I saw on my cruise was not right..One of the young men, 20 or so really had some deformities and other issues... It's not his fault and I felt bad for him, but clearly his family tree didn't fork much..He was treated very well by his family though. I think he has this genetic problem which is happening in these communities http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/195535


The sad thing is, I assume there are some in theit community who are worse off and he was the one who was healthy enough to come.

He is better off than the "normal" boys. They get kicked out without any real skills. They are competition for the old old old perverts who want the girls these boys would marry.

It's a bit of a long story...Our first night on the cruise we went to karaoke..There was a very large family in one corner of the bar..At one point one of the men went up to sing and brought two women with him..He announced that the women were his wives..Of course we laughed thinking it was a joke of some kind...That same night one of the group ripped off his shirt and dropped trou..We are talking the full monty here..
I don't even know how to describe this group but they were every stereotype of polygmits you have ever heard..Of couse we still did not believe it.. Ships are small and you see the same people every day..There were two men that were always with particular women.. The first onewould dance with one woman and kiss her, rub her, then sit her down and bring out woman number two and then woman number three... The second man was much quieter about thing sand wasn't so blatent about it..
There was also a very attractive younger woman with them who spent a lot of time watching the 20 year old that was clearly ill. He's the one that I think had Fumarase, a disease afflicting polygamists kids in high numbers...Friends of ours made friends with her over the course of the cruise...One drunken night she admitted what we had already figured out..They were polygamists and she was the nanny/nurse for them..
The last name of most of them was Stubbs with one girl being anemd Genevieve Stubbs. When I got home I did some research and found the site I posted in this thread..There was another Genevieve Stubbs who died of old age a few years back..She was a Polygamist involved in the infamous Short Ridge raid in the 1950's.. I'm assuming this Genevieve Stubbs that we saw was the grandaughter.
Most of the women in the group seemed*normal* but it seemed like alot of the men were not fully there, if you know what I mean..The one who wasthe worst off was the young man I described.

These "encampments" are being funded by Jeffs' millions. If the Feds can find a way to dry up his funding of his church, these compounds will probably disband and fade away.

I doubt it, they will simply move to other locations. Probably outside the US.

Yeah, That's the part that makes zero sense..And let me tell you these people were drinking..A lot...Maybe that's why they were so unruly, because they aren't used to drinking. They certainly behaved like people who aren't used to being in public..

Sort of the space that doesn't count, some cultures believe that some places (not on your soil) you can drink (something like a neutral space), perhaps they were going off this premise (but I still agree with you, just had to argue the point LOL)

Many time it is more about being caught and reported. When I worked in AZ we were having a company even at a pizza place. Some of the Mormons went with us and some did not. When I asked why, the ones who did not go said that somebody might see them enter and report them. They also said the ones who went lives far away, so their changes of being spotted were slim.

Just like they were forbidden to drink coke or pepsi. Then the LDS Church bought a large amount of stock in coke and then they could drink coke but not pepsi.

Not a "lot" of the extra wives, ALL of the extra wives & if the husband doesn't work, then his children from the first wife are on assistance.

I remember when CNN did their piece... this town had a LOT of $$ rolling into it from the government....

I guess they are still searching the El Dorado property for children, I guess it's proven difficult since it's so large and there are many buildings.

Jenny, perhaps that's it, only International water's required for that family. Although it's very strange they'd be out like that if completely indoctrinated KWIM? They obviously still hold the same belief of polygamy to be self evident, but have somehow extracted themselves from the Jeff's compounds while still flying under local government radar.... who knows, such a strange story! Did anyone ever consider the fact that we don't know all the details of the FLDS community? I know a lot of people who have left that God forsaken place and they are not deformed and mental. So it's great to see that you got the opportunity to lay your eyes on them but that does not mean that you know the first thing about them. It is a bit hasty to assume that they are mentally deformed because of their gene pull. I think it’s the people who judge them that force them to become such a reclusive community. Maybe we should be the ones that need to re evaluate ourselves before passing judgment.
