Major Decision Time - LCD TV!

I'm addicted to TV!! We were having problems with our Sony we purchased in 2005. We had the extended warranty. After several trips by the repair shop, Sony offered us a new 52" Bravia with the 120Hz(whatever that is!) for $800. We jumped on it!!!

The day the TV was delivered when I got home, I could not believe how totally awesome the picture is!!! It's like you're attending a play and the people onscreen are right in front of you. Almost like 3D. It is amazing.

My son came over, saw the picture quality and that weekend he was at BestBuy and got the Samsung Touch of Color. They are both amazing TVs.

We bought the same TV a few months ago. The picture is like no other, we really love it!

As mentioned... Sony or Samsung! :thumbsup2

Unless things have changed very recently, both of these are known to be on top of all the lists.

They have the refresh rate that is twice as high as any other set... (again, unless things have changed recently...)

With that, and the Motion-Flow... you will not get any blurring on that fast action sports play!

The first time I saw Blue Planet on our Sony, I was nothing less than awed and amazed... a school of fish, flashing by, changing direction at a split second (the way schools of fish can) and then zipping right by the camera at a high rate of speed... NO BLURRING!!! Incredible high speed detail.

Go for the SONY or possibly the Samsung...

How about RCA?

I have a family member who worked for Best Buy for nine years. They HIGHLY recommend Sony, Samsung, Sharp or LG. probably in that order. This is based not only on their knowledge of the product but, customer satisfaction.

Not sure about RCA... But, if you want a television set that can be recommeded, it will be either a Sony or Samsung.

Use the links in the prior post to check out CNET... this is one of the go-to sites for info and reviews on electronics like televisions! ;)

I went to Walmart to get them to do the price match at $499 - and I bought a Sharp. They had a Sharp 32" for $398. I had to do it. Just got it set up. Wow. Talk about a picture.

See ya. I'm off to watch some football.

What's the viewing distance? For a little more you chould get a 42 or 46.

Also, a lot of the latest models have 120hertz refresh rates. It's better for action and sports. It costs a little more though. Sets can vary quite a bit on how the handle motion like movies or sports.

I would not buy anything other than a Samsung or a Sony.

Hope you enjoy your new TV! :happytv:

It sounds like you might have been working on a budget... and I am sure that new Sharp is much better than what you had!

It's only about 5', so 32 is fine. Plus, I only have 38" space in my entertainment center. I could have gone up to 37", but I'm very happy with what I have.

Hope you enjoy your new TV! :happytv:

Actually, at this time last year I didn't even have a budget to work with. My old TV was a 26" Samsung, about 5 years old or so (I think it was a 480 - hi def, but still this new one is better). I am estactic about my new tv.

Just a note about measuring viewing distance: Measure from the face of the television (or where it would be) to the eyes of the furthest viewer. Lots of folks measure only to the knees, but unless you see with your knees, that's not going to give you a good metric.
