Hey all,

My DD wants to be in the WDWCP but we don't know which direction to take. She is going to be in college part time as of October 8, and would like to apply now but as far as we know you have to be taking classes at the time of your application. Would she be considered if she applied now and starts classes in two weeks? Also, we spoke to a CP rep at a local university who said if we registered through a school that I would be able to keep her under my insurance. All in all there are answers but none that seem to cover a situation like ours. Ansy advice? For those of you who have been in the CP, were there any problems you ran into? Were you able to stay on your parents insurance? Also she will be auditioning in November for the role of character and/or face character, does anyone know the specifics for height/weight concerning those roles?

Any information is appreciated! Thanks!

You have to have finished at least your first semester in college. She won't be eligible to apply until she starts the next semester.

From the CP website: Students must be currently enrolled and taking classes in an accredited college or university in the United States and have completed at least one semester.

Students have to have completed at least one semester to actually do the program. You can apply during your first semester, and the CP can be your second semester.

Aside from that, I would probably wait until classes actually start to apply.

Thanks for the speedy response! She has actually finished two years of college and was going to take time off, but now has decided to take a term two class to be eligible for the CP

Huh. Maybe the campus rep at my old school got it wrong, because there were a few people who were in their first semester who showed up and wanted to apply, but were told they couldn't. :confused3

It's possible that was a requirement by that particular school. Schools can place their own requirements on students such as GPA and number of credits completed.

It probably was. That school was a little strange, which is one of the (many) reasons I transferred.

i'm a little confused...
but you CAN apply your first semester, your CP can be your second semester of college but it cant be your first
thats what i'm doing and i got accepted

The insurance can be a little tricky. My daughter is there now and is still covered on our policy but she can only be "student away" for one term. If she stays at Disney for a 2nd CP our insurance will drop her. In our case the school had nothing to do with it.

Thanks, dnoyes!
Did you have to write your insurance to keep coverage? My daughter was covered while she was a full time student, but now that she went from a break to a part time student, she will be dropped. Friends have suggested we write a letter to the insurance company and explain our situation, is that what it took for your daughter to stay on?

Our Insurance allows one break a year either summer or a term. My DD had to take 12 credits in summer school before leaving August 12th to stay covered for the CP. I don't think a letter would do much good but it may be worth a try?

You might have a chance if she is getting credit for the internship through her school, some do and some don't. My daughter goes to Boise State and they would only give her three credits for the program and that is not enough to stay insured.
