Every year I keep going and going and going. Just added up what I have for DS10.5 and he's well over $500 again! Now tell me to stop! I always tell myself Im not going to do it again however it always happens. The PS, PS2 and movie DVDs add up.
Then there's the PS2 itself which isnt cheap.
And we havent stepped foot on the MAGIC yet. Im sure I'll want to buy him something at least once on our cruise.
Are you like this too with your kids?

We leave for our MAGICal cruise to the Eastern Carib in 11 days!

No, we are not like that with our kids, but then again, we have three.
When it was just our daughter we used to go wild. But, we have to scale back with three to buy for, plus extended family, etc.

This year their major gift is WDW trip, so I guess we did spend a lot this year!
Usually we try to keep it around $200 per kid. (clothes, toys, etc.)
I must say though, our daughter is 17, and the older they get, the more expensive they get.

In a word, no. And they're well acquainted with that word, too.

What's DH getting for Christmas?

I already bought a few things but I'm stopping till December because other wise I will spend way too much. Besides the kids keep changing their minds about what they want.

Bought DH a DVD player and $50 shipboard credit for our MAGICal cruise next week. Cashews, turtles, etc. Im sure there will be more once we board ship.

(I bought myself flannel Mickey pajamas!!)

I keep it as close to $200 a child as I can and I have 4. I'm sure if I just had the one it would be a little more.

I bought DH a PeeWee Herman bike. I cannot wait to see him on it!! :D

In a word, no...

We are in the midst of trying to buy a house, so our expenses are down. We are trying to do the most with small amount.

We also have two kids to buy for, so we know our limits. We also pay cash for everything, so that helps us as well.

Oh Barb,
Thanks for this thread.....I am also done shopping for my kids and need somebody to tell me to stop also. I was afraid I had gone overboard but now I am reassured that I have not bought too much. DD's total is $220 and DS's is $330. The only reason DS's is higher is because he got the gamecube. DD got alot of small stuff to make up for it and it actually looks like she got "more" so hopefully they will be equally delighted.

When are you done with your kids? How do you stop yourself once you are done? What did everybody get their DH's? I am at a loss for him and Grandma-in-law.

Great thread!

You know what my problem is? I get all these good deals, so instead of stopping when I've bought what I intended to buy, I figure that since I got stuff on sale, then I have extra money to buys something else. Then if I bought something extra for one DS, then I have to buy something extra for the other one to even it up.

Same with shopping for DH's gifts - he wanted one of those little 4-cup coffee makers for his desk at work. Well, our grocery store gives those S&H greenpoints, so I got the coffee maker for free, only had to pay shipping. So I'm not counting that as a "gift" and I'm spending more money on him. I HAVE TO STOP!!

I am familiar with your problem, lol! Our dd is an only child also and it is very hard to stop buying presents for them sometimes. This year is not a problem though, things are tight enough that we will feel blessed to provide Ash with a minimally adequate christmas. Thing is, I'm not worried about Ashli's reaction to the small christmas, I know she'll hug us and thank us over and over for the gifts we do give her.

I know that people like to shop ahead of time but my solution is to start shopping after Thanksgiving. I just buy until x-mas but if I start later I buy less.

My DD b-day was last week. She is so hard to buy for because she has a b-day right before x-mas. I give out all of my ideas for her birthday and then they ask about x-mas a week later. I have no ideas for her. Any idea's she's 13.

Over $500.....................WOW. We love our DS, age 5, but don't have that kind of cash available. You're lucky!!!
