Major airlines waive change fees for March and April travel

Wish Westjet here in Canada would do the same. They are waiving the fees only for new bookings between March 5-31. Yeah, whatever.

Norwegian air are in the process of cancelling 3,000 flights this summer.

Tap Airlines cancelling 2,500 flights from now until May.

And Alitalia... They aren't expected to survive this either. We have flights on them for our trip. Booked with Disney. We shall see what will be. I don't expect to see anything back on that. If I do, I will be pretty darn happy.

You will be able to reclaim from you bank if they go under.

Major airlines waive change fees for March and April travel for tickets bought anytime

good move, should help a lot of people
Better than nothing, but you still have to travel within 12 months of the original ticketing date, not the original travel date. Having booked the airfare for our Hawaii cruise 11 months in advance, the rebooked flights would have to start within 1 month of the original flight dates. For us, this is of little use, allowing a move of a late April flight to late May when we will still not have an opportunity to cruise.

You should double check with your airline. With Delta, your travel doesn’t have to happen within 12 months of the purchase of the original flight, you just have to “use” your eCredit within the 12 months by purchasing another flight. Since most airlines release flights 330 days out, you would have 330 days + 1 month to complete your travel.

That is good to know! I always book 10-11 months out and I'm looking at some big losses right now. I never thought it made sense that way it is now!

Yes, we used our Chase Sapphire card to purchase our flight with them, that way we would be refunded if they went under.

Sounds like Delta is being more generous than United. For UAL, it’s fly within 12 months of ticket issuance. That’s about one month if your original booking was purchased at the release date 330 days out, as was mine. Better if UAL has to cancel one or the other part of the round trip flight.

So I have a fight in April that I still may take, and it’s dropped by more then half....would save $400

How wrong is it to cancel and rebook? I would use the credit...

Delta told me last night that the travel had to be booked and travel ended by one year from the original issue date. Sounds like maybe I got incorrect information? Any help would be appreciated.

So far British Airways will only waive change charges if flights booked after 3rd March.

I booked a flight in February for 19th March and will costs me $275 to defer.

Hoping they catch up with other airlines by next week
