Has anyone been here recently? Any info would be appreciated.

I understand that years ago the Mainstay Suites was a Residence Inn. DH and I love the older Residence Inns and are partial to the duplex rooms. We like the fireplace, full kitchen, two bathrooms and the room to stretch out. Is it still the same layout? I checked the website and it seems the same.

I am currently holding a reservation for Tropical Palms but think this resort might be a better fit. (I visited TP a few times between 1996 and 2000. We like it just fine.) For almost the same price as a studio at TP we can get a bigger space, a second bathroom and a fireplace at Mainstay. (We are visiting Presidents weekend and it can get a little cold at night. We live in South Florida so we welcome the cooler temps and a chance to light up a fireplace...)

thanks!

I'm also planning a trip in June and have reserved at this hotel. The info in the web site sounds really good. They seem to offer more than any other hotel off site from Disney. I like the fact that they offer shuttles to almost everywhere including the shopping places. So if anyone has any info on this, me too, me too...

Violets-

Today someone posted some info about the Mainstay Suites and it was not too flattering! Hope this helps you, it sure did help me! (I am cancelling my reservation.)

My husband and I stayed here when it was a Residence Inn, the first time in 1993 and again a couple of years later. We really enjoyed it when it was Residence Inn and I always liked these hotels.

I'm afraid I don't know how it has been maintained since it was sold. It was another chain, I believe a Best Western, before its current ownership, so it has changed ownership a few times.

The area has also changed a bit. When we were there, there was a mini-golf course across the street, with hills and waterfalls. It was a fairly quiet stretch of Hwy. 192 at that time. Today there is a Super Target right across the street -- which may or may not be a convenience for you!
