Mainer's What Route?

Even before the latest "news" we had decided to drive to WDW this time. We are not sure what route to take? Do we go right down 95? Do we skip over to 91 and hook up with 95 in CT? What do/would you do? Oh yes, we live in the Western Mountains; Rumford, Mexico, Turner, Farmington, Bethel area. Thanks for any advice.

Hmm, I guess in your shoes I'd head over to 91 and then down through Vermont, MA, and CT all the way to New Haven. Should be a smooth drive until Hartford.
Alternatively you could take 93 to 95, but the section of 95 that goes around Boston is to be avoided if possible. The 495 loop around Boston is also not a fun drive, I've done that several times this year getting to western MA.

Thanks snow bunny! That is what we were thinking and randmcnally basically said the same thing.


What routes if any would others reccommend?

Hi,

We drove last August, and plan to drive again next year. We took the 84, 81, 77, 26, 95 route and really enjoyed it. This route takes you through the mountains of NY, Pen, Virginia and North Carolina. The largest cities we drove through were Charlotte, Jacksonville and Orlando. The mileage on this route is longer than on 95, but the ride is more interesting and less traffic.

I was confused about the route when we drove and we took the route I mentioned above on the way down and came home on 95. We will be using the route above both ways this trip!

Paula's suggestion is very interesting. I personally hate the entire section of 95 from New York state through Washington DC. It's just a mess of traffic.
