Main Street Electrical Parade to stay Spectromagic leaving.

I know that there are a lot of people who love Spectro but I saw Main Street Electrical Parade on my honeymoon and would love to see it again. I only have 4 1/2 months to go.

Don't get too excited Disney is still stating MSEP is going to be there.

It's kind of two sided who to believe. Disney is famous for not updating stuff, but then this site also list the construction for Avatarland and that has gotten the ax already.

Since they have parades at 9 and 11, would they consider doing each parade once a night?

Doubt it. It means maintaining three parades instead of two and also three different parade "shows" to staff. I'm sure one set of staff could cover both night time parades but it means extra rehearsal time.

I would assume MSEP would go somewhere else or go down for a refurb if they bring Spetro back.

What Chartle said.....

plus, They don't always have 2 parades a night. There is a good portion of the year (outside traditional "peak" times like Spring Break, The Summer, Christmas/New Years) when they only run the parade once. (Parade doesn't run during EMH, so when the park closes at 10-11 for regular guests there often isn't a 2nd parade)

I know this is OffTopic, but mentioned in this thread, and can lead to some reliability of the source of the recent rumor updates.

Did i miss an announcement? Just in Mid March,
A new land themed around the "Avatar" movie franchise is likely to open in Disney's Animal Kingdom "sometime in 2015," according to the Walt Disney Co.'s top executive. <BR>Disney President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger provided the rough target date during a question-and-answer session at Disney's annual shareholder meeting in Kansas City, Mo.

no. It was axed awhile ago. I can't remember where I read it, but I was glad.

It couldn't have been too long ago. On March 16, at the annual meeting of shareholders, Bob Iger mentioned that the Avatarland project was expected to open some time in 2015.

Regarding the progress of the AVATAR project at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Bob Iger replied, “We were fortunate to enter into an agreement with director James Cameron who created AVATAR, and the design work is just beginning. I actually attended a meeting with Jay Rasulo the other day where we got pitched some creative on it. But in all likelihood, we’re not going to open up AVATAR Land until some time in 2015. But Design work is just beginning. Very exciting too.”

I had read that too, but I heard it before that. I also have seen where people think Disney is stalling before officially announcing it because Jame C has pulled back. (or pulled out) They haven't even decided what to build yet, but the building is supposed to start in 2013.
I think this land is a horrid idea, so it won't bother me at all that it's not happening. I know it's a top movie, but I only know a handful of people (in person) who actually saw it and of those, many didn't care for it.

This is odd because it made 2.9 billion, that's with a B, and was nominated for 9 Academy awards including the two biggies, Best Picture and Best Director and won three. :confused3

And think there was some issue that needs worked out and like I posted above, a certain group of people are pouncing on it like its all canceled.:yay::cheer2:

Note: I'm not an Avatard or fan boy. I did see it twice because my mother wanted to see it in 3D and she wasn't with us when we saw it the first time.

Just so everyone knows - this person is spreading misinformaiton / wishful thinking. Disney has not pulled back on Avatarland at all. They are not talking about it because there is little to talk about. Construction is at least 12-18 months away, and they have the Fantasy and Fantasyland to pimp. it was talked about at the last corporate meeting, there is no evidence (other than internet retoric) that it is going anywhere. In fact their biggest issue with the project, that both sequels would be out before it was open, seems to be going away as Cameron's camp has indicated a delay in Avatar 2 to 2015 is likely. (Though they've already started working on it, because there is going to be a large underwater sequence where they use underwater mo-cap for the first time.)

I don't understand why so many (admittedly only internet people) are so against them doing Avatarland. The same people that complain they don't build anything new at WDW, now they announce something new these same people say "Well I didn't mean that!" Some people just seem to want Disney to fall on its face. I feel pity for them.

Back OT: As far as Spectromagic coming back - I have no concrete information on this...however, waaaaay back when MSEP came to WDW in 2010, the story was that it would be here for 2 years while DCA got used / control of WoC traffic patterns...at which point it would move back to DCA. There has been nothing official to state that it is going back.

The fact that WDW is still showing MSEP on its calendar is not a meaningful argument in favor of it staying for the summer, however. When MSEP first moved to Disneyland, it was supposedly "only for the summer nightastic" and they showed Spectro back on the calendar in September...until mid-August when they announced that MSEP was staying. I could not corroborate the WDWnewstoday post shown earlier in this thread, so I would take that with a grain of salt.

I do think MSEP will go back, but I don't think it will happen this summer. With Carsland opening, they have enough "newness" to draw crowds. I would suspect MSEP will go back next year. (Pure spectulation on my part.)
I personally prefer Spectro. Seen it 4 times, and since seen MSEP twice, and would prefer Spectro back. But honestly couldn't care one way or the other to get worked up about it.

Please don't refer to me as "This person". I am not spreading misinformation at all, I am telling what rumors I have read/heard...and this is a rumor board, am I not correct? I could care less if Avatarland happens or not. I don't have any wishful thinking...I just don't care.
Will I go to it?...maybe. But it's not a draw for me.
I also am not one who hopes for Disney to bring out new things and then complains about it. I don't really hope for new things. I liked things the way they were.

I heard about 2 months ago form a reliable person that it was getting axed. But, I do see there is talk it may not be. There are also many threads on several forums that are saying that too, so the rumor has to have started from some sort of problem. It may not be axed completely, but my guess there is some sort of trouble in paridise.

I will be excited to see Spectro come back. I hope it is back by fall when my next WDW trip is planned. Only time will tell. I have now seen MSEP several times, but it's just not the same for me. In fact, my DH saw it for the first time last Thursday and after it was over he asked me what happened to the good parade. MSEP is a nice enough parade, but it doesn't hold the memories for me like Spectro does. I think a lot of that has to do with how well you like each parade. I know many people who love MSEP because it was the first Disney night parade that they ever saw, so they have wonderful memories of it.

Jenseib...I apologize for taking a rant out on you, but I do get annoyed when people report rumor as fact. That's how rumors spread. Yes, this is a rumor board, but it is a "Rumor and News" board. Your original quote that got me fired up was:

It's kind of two sided who to believe. Disney is famous for not updating stuff, but then this site also list the construction for Avatarland and that has gotten the ax already.

Regardless of how you intended, that is not written as a rumor such as "this site also list the construction for Avatarland and there's lots of posts about that being canceled." You state it as a fact: "that has gotten the ax already." People read that and believe it. Now, it's not your fault that people believe things without any facts to back them up, but that is the way of the world. Again, I'm sorry I took my annoyance out on you specifically, it's more at the internet in general.

The rumors are going hot and heavy about it being canceled, Disney comes out at their quarterly meeting and says its still on, and the message boards continue to say "oh, it's canceled". So, the rumor becomes the fact. It's a real peeve of mine, which is why I often am very careful in how I write things on this board. Your statement in this most recent post is much clearer, and I do appreciate that response which is written as an opinion based on the rumors.

At least we agree with one thing, I'm all for bringing back Spectromagic! I like your DH response "What happened to the good parade?" :rotfl2:
