Main Street Electrical Parade 1978

Hi all,

As many of you know I am a professor of Art and Graphic Design at a local University. I have a colleague who is a digital photography professor and in a passing conversation told me that in the late 1970's she worked for some local Orlando area newspapers and that she often ended up in Walt Disney World doing photo shoots for stories.

She went digging in the archives and found some nice shots of the Main Street Electrical Parade via 1978.

Thanks, smraynor. I always had trouble photographing the old parade, so it was nice to see it again. Film cameras had trouble with those old light bulbs, and most of the pictures were blurry due to the movement. With the new LED bulbs and a digital camera, the pictures of the current version are now clear and beautiful.

The photographer told me that she was just out of art school and was working for a north Florida newspaper and they sent her to photograph the MSEP. They turned out pretty good.

Thank you for posting this. I know my dad has albums full of MSEP photos. It is our favorite. We also had the soundtrack to the parade...and I think this is why I love electronic music so much. Brings back so many memories. Funny....looking at all those folks and thiking hmm...where are they keeping their ticket books - no magic bands back then.

I just found the original track from 1966 from electronic music pioneer Jean-Jacques Perrey. I can't figure out how to post it here but I've added it back to the original article at the bottom.

It is interesting to compare the sound of the original track to the way it evolved into the MSEP version.
