Hoping someone will be able to answer this. What goes on at the Main Street Barber shop? Do they only give hair cuts? Is there something special they do there? Thanks in advance!

From what I know, they only give haircuts. My DH and I went there on our honeymoon, and he got a haircut. At the end, they throw "pixie dust" on you (and I got it too even though I didn't get a hair cut). It is pretty fun, though, especially for kids.

Like the person above me said, they cut hair and add magical touches such as colored gel, mickey heads made from the colored gel, pixie dust and glitter.
I've heard that they do a 'princess braid' a french braid for the girls...but I may be wrong about that :confused3

Ditto.

We are going to have our 3 year old DS's hair cut there one day! I'm not so sure we are going to do the gel thing (I have read that it is a pain to get out and can get on your clothes if you do water rides), but I do think he will love getting a Disney hair cut!

They do haircuts (for all ages) & then if you want they will use some colored gel (along w/ some Pixie Dust) & do a little Mickey head on the back of your head, the little kids love it... ok I'm not gonna lie I did it once too... ok maybe twice!

The only thing that it got all over when I did it was my pillow @ night b/c I refused to wash it out before bed b/c I liked it so much lol. I had no problem at all washing it out or anything like that.

Here are some pictures of DS last year. He loved it and he doesn't usually go for things like this. It is hair glue that is used but it came out fairly easily in the bathtub and didn't stain.

to me it is the best value in WDW. I can get my haircut cheaper there then in my local barber shop

I've been getting my hair cut there since I was 9 years old. It's gotten to the point now where a couple pf the barbers know me on a first name basis lol I'm now gonna be 20 in October & I still make sure to make time during every trip to go in there & get a cut.

DH lost a bet and now has to get his hair cut there with the sparkles and the Mickey heads. Cant wait!! Ive got to show him those pictures so he can see what he's in for!!

The only thing that seemed to go without mention yet is the first haircut treatment. My DS's have both gotten haircuts here 3 times, but my DD (almost 2) is waiting to get her FIRST haircut at Disney. They give you a lock of hair and certificate for the childs first ever haircut!!

Can they get their hair 'decorated' without a haircut? If so, anyone know how much that runs?

We saw a little girl, maybe 3 or 4, with the 'pixie dust' and colored hair gel on our trip last year. My DS (2 at the time) was so impressed he kept talking to her about it on the Jungle Cruise, and at the end as she was getting off she took a few of her Mickey heads and put them in his hair -- it was just too cute!

They also get mickey ears with first haircut for the first haircut. You can get just the gel, my dd did that when we were down there. I'm not sure exactly how much it was I'm thinking around 5 dollars which is cheap at disney.

my dd's got this done last yr. They didn't get their hair cut at all, just gel and pixie dust. They didn't do the mickey head shape, they only do that on boys with really short hair. Instead, they put the gel on the top of their heads. They didn't rub it in, just kind of put it on the top layer of hair. I can't describe it correctly. It was only on the top of their hair, and then the pixie dust went on top of that. DD's had it done the day we left and it lasted all of the next day, until I made them wash it out. I think it was around $5. I remember being surprised it was that cheap.

You can get the gel and Mickey sprinkles without a haircut for $5. I thought that was really reasonable. We left DS5's in for 2 days and by the second day, the gel was getting pretty sticky. But, he didn't want to wash it out because he was getting alot of attention from CMs and other guests. He didn't lose much confetti either, those were like cemented to his hair - I was surprised!

This is OT, but I love those shirts. Did you make them yourself?
