Some photos from last week at Magic Kingdom's Main Street Electrical Parade. All taken with my Canon 30D and Sigma 30mm lens.

Great pics! The castle in the background adds to the pics. The tink pics are my favorite. GOOD STUFF!

Great shots!:thumbsup2 I want that lens!! Before our next trip to WDW I will have it. Thanks for posting.

Great shots! The castle backdrop is great. I'm curious- where exactly are you standing? I tried to figure it out but it seems like some pictures are on the left side of Main Street and some are from the right.

Beautiful! Another vote for the first one!

Some of them seem a little closer than a 30mm would do. Did you crop them?

awesome shots. Would you mind sharing what your settings were?
Thanks.

I agree. I've been debating on what lens to get for my camera next and I've never ever been happy with my night time shots (I don't nearly have anything this fast). I'm going to have to make my next purchase the sigma 30mm or the canon 50mm f/1.4

Just awesome shots!

I have an older manual 50mm 1.4, while its a good lens, for the dark rides I actually believe the 30 is a better focal length. Pentax is supposed to be announcing a new camera next month and I am hoping it has improved low light performance both ISO and focus. If it does, then with the 30 I should be good to go on rides like Peter Pan, HM and PoC.

They were all taken from one spot which was opposite the Castle (to the left, facing it) in the central hub - except for one shot (of Mickey) which I grabbed as I was exiting the park and the second parade of the night was just starting as I was waiting for the cross walk to open between floats! That was taken right opposite the Town Hall.

Yes, Ive cropped a few.

Thanks.

They were taken on a mixture of Av and Tv mode - all were ISO 800. Av mode ones were taken at f/1.4 and Tv I set to 1/125. I found Av mode was over exposing some of the brighter colours and the camera coped better at adjusting the aperture when I used Tv mode rather than the shutter speed in Av mode (no idea why!). Manual would be an option but its a VERY difficult subject to shoot - changing lighting levels, low light moving subjects and often you are being jostled as you try to snap - you could waste more time fiddling with settings than shooting if you arent careful ;) !! Its the ulitmate Disney photography challenge in my opinion!! :wizard:

Thanks for the kind comments - I admire you guys on here so much so its a real bonus to get nice feedback on my photos :) .

So here's what I want to know......

How DID you get them to turn the castle orange just as Tink came by with the orange and green on her float???? :goodvibes

Beautiful shots! Wondering if this will still be the parade in October? I guess we'll see!! I'm taking my 50mm for the first time so I hope I can get some nice shots too! Great job!
