Hi
I just booked 2 cabins on the 4-day Wonder Cruise for Jan 29, 2006 and have been waitlisted for main dining. I have a disabled dd (8) who needs to eat at specific times as she requires a full tummy for meds and we have an infant dd who will turn 1 on the trip. We are also travelling with two friends and their infant dd (6 months). It is still 5 months away... what should we do?
DCL states that I can get a medical note for DD(8), which they require anyway for an accessible room, and that would bump us on the list BUT we want to eat with our friends as we are doing this cruise together.
help????

Hello, and yes you should call DCL and get the medical form filled out and returned back to them...If your ressies are linked with your friends, then you will be eating together..You just have to make sure they are indeed "linked"..

THe medical form, should guarantee you early dining...Medical needs come before anything, regardless of the age of children...

Hope this helps, and I would do this ASAP..

:goodvibes

We sail in Sept and were on the "main" dining waitlist. A couple of weeks ago I checked our reservation on the Disney website and it has us listed as main dining. We are linked to another room/reservation and both were changed to main. I started to have my doubts but it came through. :cool1:

We booked early and got main dining. The in-laws booked later and were waitlisted. The reservations were linked and FIL sent in a medical form b/c of severe acid reflux. They were changed to main seating without a problem a few weeks ago (we sail 9/3). From what I've heard from others, and based on our experience, you shouldn't have a problem.

We are cruising in Spet (17th) and last week they released main dining. It seems that everyone on our ship that wanted main and were on late got it and if we were worried about them, we linked them to someone on main dining and they were moved. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you but if you can get a doc letter then may as well.

just wanted to mention to you to realy consider if you want the accessable room (if you need it for the wider door ways or wheelchair access then definatly get it). i say this because i used one on our first cruise several years ago and found the bathroom much less safe than a standard. i was concerned about stepping up into a shower or over into a bath/shower combo-disney's accommodation actualy made it harder on all of us to bathe.
the entire bathroom is basicly the shower-either you sit on the comode (or if in a wheelchair, stretch the shower head to reach you) to shower or you have to stand with the stretching shower head to the side or in front of the comode. while they have drainage holes in the tile floor it still creates a very slippery condition (takes several hours for the floor to dry unless you towel dry it by hand). my kids took several spills going in to go potty.

if your daughter needs to dine at a specific time for her meds def. get the medical form filled out by your doctor (if you will be traveling from a different time zone remember to take that into account when determining if you need early or late seating) and have the doctor be specific about the need. unfortunatly disney's policy is getting less lenient about basing seating times based on medical needs (they contend that they have room service available 24 hours a day if food is needed prior to taking a medication) in large part because many people have abused the policy (this is why they ask for a medical form if you base your telephone request for a seating change on this basis). i read of one person whose spouse tried to get them earlier seating based on his diabeties (he did not have diabeties)-she was mortified. her husband succeded in getting the earlier seating but each evening was presented with the "sugar free" dessert menu. she reported that each evening when he tried to order from the main dessert menu she would say to him "no honey-remember your diabeties" and shame him into sticking to the sugar free :teeth: needless to say he learned his lesson.

best of luck, enjoy your curise!

There have been a few cases reported where the switch hasn't been possible. You shouldn't have a problem with your medical requests, and your friends may luck out because they are linked to you - but if this is really vital, consider what happens when you don't get it. As Barkley said, room service is available 24 hours, and Pluto's etc available most times, so the medical reason for early dining isn't life or death or even health and Disney may tell you tough luck. If this will ruin your cruise, you may wish to postpone until you can book with early dining.

we were denied this privledge on holland america last year. my son needs to eat before his meds (or it kills his apetite and he just wont eat). we ended up eating in the dining room only once over 7 days (it was the buffet or room service).

I'm another sweating on the wait list.
TMTIP, when did you first go on the wait list, and how large is your group? That may give a clue to our chances!
