Main dining room - what do your wear (women)?

I'm packing for my first Disney cruise and, outside of Palo, I'm uncertain what to pack for dinner.

If you didn't wear something like a sundress, what did you wear? Would jeans/blouse/cardi work? Or should I pack something dressier, like a blazer or dress pants? My everyday attire is business casual so that's the bulk of my wardrobe options.

I'm probably overthinking this - just want to make sure I'm appropriately dressed :)

(it's a 4 night - no formal night)

As long as you're not wearing a tank top or swimwear (or pajamas - yes, it's been asked, but more in a "I'm going to do this no matter what you say" kind of way) you'll be fine.

Wear whatever makes you comfortable. Other than swim wear, most anything goes. Business casual would be great.

I often wear capris and a nice top, paired with nice sandals, some flats and some heels. I sometimes feel a little overdressed with people around me wearing what looks like they could have been wearing around the port all day, but that is perfectly acceptable too. Wear what you feel good in. :)

On our 4 night I wore capris, linen pants, or sundresses. I always wanted to shower and change after a busy day, so I just opted for dinner clothes rather than more pool deck type clothes.

I wear a dress or skirt and blouse, but business casual will be just fine.

I used to wear dresses, but I freeze in the dining rooms...now I wear capris and something warm on top, like my profile pic.

I like "dressing" for dinner. I don't mean fancy, but nice pants or capris and a nic top. Formal night on the PC Repo I did get a formal gown. I wanted to be dressed up.

I think what you are planning for a 4-nt (optional dress up ) is fine! For our 7- and 8-nts, we always dressed up for the formal nights. We like to dress up bc it's a chance for us to get professional portraits of our family, a rarity for us!

All of our cruises have been in the summer months. I prefer a skirt and summer blouse, or a long maxi sundress for dinner in the main dining rooms.
I always have a short sleeve sweater or shawl with me, but these days with my womanly hot flashes, who knows.

For the first time Dh and I will be cruising in Oct out of NYC to Canada, so I will have think about my dinner outfit.
I prefer dress pants and a really dressy blouse, but maybe a nice cocktail dress for Palo this fall. We are looking forward to our couple only cruise. Celebrating our 30th Anniversary a little early.

On my most recent 3 night on the Dream, I saw a grown woman wearing fairly slummy pajamas to dinner one night. I was pretty surprised. It didn't really bother me, if I'm being honest, but I couldn't help but think how terribly out of place I'd feel wearing pajamas in the Enchanted Garden. :rotfl:

To answer the OP's question, pretty much anything you feel comfortable wearing that is not a tank top or pajamas. Even a t shirt and shorts is acceptable. However, on formal night, even if they don't go all out most ladies will at least wear a nice summer dress.

Dug was referring to a post last week. That's unfortunate that someone has actually seen it happen.

I was wondering if that poster might have been on the cruise, then I looked at @Savikins dates and realized it couldn't have been.

Being comfortable and dressing appropriately do not have to be mutually exclusive. It's just as easy to put on pjs as it would be to put on a nice pair of elastic waisted travel or dare I say yoga pants. Put on a decent top or cardi, and no one needs to be the wiser. Methinks some are just tying to get a rise out of their fellow cruisers by bucking good etiquette.

on thing to consider regardless of what you wear: consider bringing a layering long sleeve top or shawl or something similar that you can put on or take off as dining room temp demands. I find the dining rooms to be quite cold and have resigned to wearing long sleeves, long pants, and bringing a long sleeve something to wear over if needed. My sister OTOH thinks I am nuts and is happy in capris and a short sleeve top.

Once on formal night there was a table of 20-30 yr old guys that came in shorts and tshirts. One had on a wifebeater, no lie.
