Mailing yourself a box to the resort

Of course I can't find the link right now, but I read (I think on Disney Dollarless?) that packing food to take on the plane could be a problem.

They had a link to the TSA.gov site with a warning that some food items can give a false-positive reading to the screening exquipment which greatly increases the chances that your checked bags may be searched outside of your presence. I'll try to find that link and post it here.

I know it seemed easier to me to just mail the dry goods and use the quick grocery stop to get the perishables. No one wants an unnecessary hassle at the airport.

I'd never thought of shipping a box- seems like a great idea for diapers, wipes, etc. Last March when we went, they searched our suitcases b/c I had packed coffee packets not realizing that they were one of the "trigger" items so I'd like to mail those down this year as well. What info do you include on the mailing label?

First, I checked www.UPS.com to see how long it would take to ship the package from my hometown.... The address label should have the resort name and address, but it should also say ATTN: your name & arrival date somewhere on the labe.

HTH!

Here's what those who have been successful have done!

Madge -

Just wondering....what was the charge for shipping your 35 pound box?

Santa may have to use USPS or UPS this year. Supposedly a box from here will arrive in Orlando in 3 days ground shipping....how much longer do you think it'll take close to Christmas? :wizard:

Hmmm we need a santa smiley!

We routinely ship to the resorts. We actually FedEx our luggage sometimes. It is great to just cruise through the airport while everyone else is at the baggage carousel.

skiwee - nope CM's do not get annoyed at all. You would be surprised at the number of guests shipping everything from food to luggage (like us). The have no problems storing for a guest to pick up.

My only advise make sure you use actual address of resort not just Boardwalk , Walt Disney World. Makes is easier and it will arrive faster.

I would allow extra time if shipping your luggage by UPS or FED EX. I can't tell you how many times my packages have been lost or delayed. That is ok for food supplies but if you are depending on your clothes it isn't.

My luck with the airlines is much better than UPS or Fed EX for shipping.

Wow! Some of you have actually shipped your luggage? It would be really nice breezing through the airport without it... plus a tracking number!

Hmmmmm... maybe I need a bigger box....:jester:
