OK I know about mailing packages to your resort---I did that on monday---But how do I mail my packages back home??????

We will be at Fort Wilderness. Do we wrap our packages and bring them to the front desk? Can they weigh them and we pay for the postage? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone please fill me in on how to mail packages from WDW to our house!!!!

I think most people who mail packages, only mail disposable items or items they plan to consume while they are there, like snacks and diapers. You might want to call them directly to see if they can help you out and give you advise. Good Luck.

So does anyone know if there is someplace to mail items from WDW?

If it is an item you bought there, instead of having it delivered to your resort, you can have it delivered to your home. You fill out a form very similar to the resort delivery one. We did this when we bought a snow globe. It arrived home very well packaged and in perfect condition.

If you are talking about mailing souvenirs home - there are several (if not all) of the Disney shops that offer mail service. You can ask at the check-out abou shipping your purchases home.

Are you talking about things you intend to purchase or items that you are sending to yourself for the resort?

If you are talking about purchases, it is really easy to have them sent when you purchase them. If you are shipping out of the state of Florida, all sales tax is waived. That usually offsets the amount of the shipping. Just tell the CM when you get ready to make a purchase that you want to ship it home.

If you need to ship other items, I've heard that the resorts will ship for you. I don't know exactly how that works, but you could ask at the front desk of your resort.

I shipped things a few times before I found out about the shipping options. There is a post office on CR536 by the Crossroads. As you approach the Crossroads after leaving DTD, turn left on CR535. Go straight. You will want to go straight through the next light. There will be on Olive Garden on the right. This will put you on CR536 (Apopka Vineland). You see a strip mall to the right with a Giardanos, Steak & Shake, etc. If you turn into that strip mall, the Post Office is toward the back on the left side.

Hope that helps!

we stop at a ups or other mail hub to mail our stuff back on the way to the airport. from our experiences the resorts only have overnight (like fed express), and the shops can't do it because their rates are based on purchase price vs. mailing weight.

Here is the easiest solution which won't cut into your vacation time!!

1) go to a post office and pick up one of each of the flat rate boxes (2 different sizes). Pack them on the bottom of your suitcase. Don't forget to pack clear shipping tape (from the dollar store is cheapest)

2) before you leave for vacation, register on USPS.com. Preprint a shipping label WITH postage for $8.10 for the flat rate box, using the WDW resort address as the 'return' and your home address as the 'ship to'

3) on the USPS.com site, schedule a parcel pickup! You can schedule USPS to come pick up the parcel at a predetermined date/time. I've done this from many hotels including WDW and it works like a charm. Just leave your package with the front desk and ensure that they know that you have scheduled a pickup (take the CM name just to be safe)

Flat rate shipping is $8.10 using the flat rate box, regardless of weight, and takes 2-3 days. Using this method, you won't need to visit a post office while on vacation

Otherwise, if it's items that you purchased, take Peg's as-always-good advice...

Don't you leave pretty soon??? Do your sons get to come with you?

For some reason I thought you were going in June. I hope you have fun! Did you decide to ship a air conditioner?

:teeth: I'm on the road travelling most of the year, and even though my company uses a few couriers, USPS has never failed me yet (whereas the courier service often misplaces our packages temporarily or permanently). I love the service but not many ppl know about it.

The 'schedule a pickup' works just like a courier service.

Although I don't live in the US, I have lived/worked in several countries and USPS is the BEST! they even have a significant edge over the German postal service.

We leave Sunday!!! Yes my boys will be going and are very excited! I mailed the air conditioner Monday because the resorts don't like the package to be there for more than 3 days before your arrival but then I was thinking how am I going to get this back home?!

To let everyone know---I tried the USPS website but it does not preprint labels for parcel post (the ac weighed in at 42lbs) so after searching around the site I read about ebay/paypal and this is what I did--

1) Went to Dhs paypal acct and sent the money for shipping to my paypal acct(make sure you add .14c for delivery confirmation because paypal automatically adds it) I listed it under good(other) so on my acct I could get the ship button

2) In my acct I hit the ship button and when it brought up the shipping info I added another address so the return addy would be the resort at WDW(you have to do it this way to get the correct shipping cost)

3)Made sure my addy was the ship to address

4)Added the pkg weight and type of pkg it was----I had all the weights and cost from when I mailed the pkgs from my local post office and I made sure to match up the prices for the return trip

5) Printed out the shipping label to bring with us

I figured I would post this here, maybe someone else out there could use the info also! If I hadn't figured out how to send pkgs parcel post thru paypal it would have cost me more to ship it first class than it did to buy the ac!
