Why doesn't Disney offer a shipping option on numbers/t-shirts/etc ? I would be quite happy to pay for shipping costs in exchange for not having to squeeze in visiting the expo on some years. Certainly a cut off (2 months out?) would make sense to make sure numbers get there in time, but why don't they even offer the option? We have a short trip this year, and I hate that we have to spend a good chunk of it going to and from the expo plus going thru. Yes, there are neat vendors, and some years I have had the leisure time to spend there, but this year our schedules dictated a short trip. :worried:

I can think of several reasons, the most important of which is making sure your chip matches your bib and works when you cross a timing mat with it. With 25,000 chips being handed out, there will always be some that don't work and need to be replaced. I imagine you'd be even more upset at not getting a time and a result from the race than from having to spend an hour going to the expo.

Many reasons....

Vendors pay a fairly high fee to have a booth at the expo. The higher fees Disney demands is predicated on the number of folks who will pass the booth through the weekend. Offering a mail option would lower the numbers and the vendors fee would have to be reduced.

Liability issues can arise from not having that signed and ID'd waiver. should something happen and they cannot produce that signed version then it is on the RD.

Looking at the long lines for folks printing and filling out waivers at the expo how many folks do you think would forget their number. It would create an undue burden to satisfy the inevitable few folks who forgot.

Finally, the new bib tag is fragile and if bent in shipping or in your bag it may not function leaving you without an official result.

OK, really finally, Disney does not order the bibs until late November so time is compressed to begin with.

Nice thought but difficult to execute and has many issues that are outside of the race's control.
