Mail order gift basket ideas/companies

I wanted to send some gluten free soup to my daughter at college when she was sick, filled out all of the information, just to find out delivery would be in 2 weeks. Kind of defeated the purpose for $100 soup.
That’s a bummer. Never had that problem. 4-5 days has been the delivery time. But, I wasn’t ordering GF.

Frequently buy locally with the general interest baskets being from Zabar’s or Citarella. Maison de Chocolate and Laudurée are great for special events.
William Sonoma has wonderful items to bake, and some Whole Foods put together nice baskets.

My experience is you have to know the quality of the products offered before considering if you want to place an order, so only national companies with known quality merchandise selection, or best of all IMO, local companies with superior products and service.

Tried Cheryl's Cookies when my oldest was off in college, definitely underwhelmed to say the least.

We get A LOT of gift baskets and whatnot in the office this time of year. Every year the Cheryl's just sits...I can't even get the younger guys or the folks with teenage boys to take them anymore :crazy2:

Agreed. Unfortunately, Harry and David’s is not like they used to be .

Now that you mention it, it's been a few years since I've actually seen items from them. Sad to hear another stalwart is slipping.

Harry & David, Cheryls and Olive & Cocoa are almost all Bioengineered food now.

I got a couple gift baskets this year and I was so disappointed. I wouldn't even give them away. The only things not bioengineered were the actual fruit and the cheese.

Just making a note of that in case there are other people out there that don't want to send or eat bioengineered food.

Disturbing … bought Cheryl’s a couple years ago and honestly have had better cookies cut from a tube … definitely not worth the price and never ventured back into the food gift idea until this year … we have some Jeni’s ice cream being sent via GoldBelly and are looking at possibly sending a Juniors Cheesecake via the same company …Hopefully the food gift results are better this time around or we are done sending food gifts ..

We just received a lovely gift basket from Stonewall Kitchen (Maine) with all the fixins for a lovely Christmas Morning! I love their products and they are in local stores now so I can grab what I love as I go through the year. Macys has them too if you have free shipping I can vouch for the pancake mix, the syrup the jams and the BBQ sauces on wings.

Graeters ships ice cream and their ice cream is delicious. They now sell it in some supermarkets but you can order all their special flavors online.
