Has anyone ever NOT had a maid of honor and best man? My fiance and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, so we thought it may be best to just have attendants and groomsmen instead of an official MOH and BM. Anyone???

Sounds good to me, but I'm kinda weird - my only attendant will be my brother (the... Man of Honor?).

One thing to consider is that the Best Man and Maid/Matron of Honor traditionally have certain responsibilities - planning the bachelor party/bridal shower, keeping track of rings, license, etc - so your attendants may be relieved not to be picked as BM/MH.

Then again, I'm not sure who would do all those things for you (if you even want them done). Maybe all the bridesmaids would work together on your shower and all the groomsmen would plan the bachelor party?

Kind of what we were thinking. My family is extremely sensitive, and I fear that picking one person over the other to be my MOH would really hurt the others (I'm having my sister, 3 nieces and fiance's daughter in the wedding). I haven't decided how to line them up, but am thinking that it would be nice to have my future step-daughter as my main attendant (the problem is that she will only be 11 on the wedding day). My fiance is having his son (who will be 14 on the wedding day) as his main groomsman.

We're not having a MOH/BM either. We're having my brother and fiancee and then DF's sister and fiancee as attendants. But no Maid of honor/best man. We wanted to keep it small and equal!

We are doing it a little strange. We are having 4 BM and 4 GM. We have a best man, but no MOH. It would be impossible for me to pick one and I don't have any sisters so there is no family obligation. Honestly, if I could I would have my gay best friend (the Will to my Grace if you will...) be my MOH. But he's in charge of keeping the groomsmen looking sharp. ;)

I don't think there is anything wrong with not having attendants or not having a BM and MOH. Who really wants the pressure anyway? :thumbsup2

we're not having any attendants... then again we aren't having any guests either, so i'm probably not the best one to be answering... :goodvibes sorry, i'm in a goofy mood tonight. still have lots to do before we go and here i am on the disboards!

One of my friends is actually doing that.. Although she is not having a wedding party.. but that sounds fine with me and alot of ppl agree with it as well... I dont think it will look odd
