Has anyone done this excursion and is it worth it. my DH really wants to do this, I would be o.k. with it, but have heard rumor that it often runs late and you might miss the ship. I was actually hoping to get back in time to do a little shopping in St. Thomas before the ship leaves port....does anyone know if this would be possible. :confused3

My husband and 2 of his friends did this excursion while we were on the Magic last week. They were very disappointed. The greens fees had gone up to $140 ( I think) and the price of club rental had also gone up (They each spent $190 total). THey said the views were really nice, but the greens were not in great shape. THe employees and members were rude and it was an "unforgiving" course. They expected a certain level of service from the employees of the course, and they got none. They much prefer the courses at WDW. This was their one regret of our cruise. However, I have read other reports from past cruisers who have had a wonderful time at this course.

My husband and I played this course a few years back, and loved it. I am not a very experienced or good golfer, but I had a lot of fun. We used to always travel with our golf clubs on cruises, so no rentals here. We were one of the first people off of the ship in order to have time to drive over to the club house, play and get back in time. No problems with the time, we still had plenty of time to shop near the dock. Mahogany Run is not a cushy, fancy golf course where you go to be pampered. It reminded me more of a ranch when we drove up to it. Yes, it is very tough, as is any course with the ocean and cliffs coming into play but I would play it again if given the chance. We are not playing it this time because our son is only 12, and we would rather wait till he is a little older to appreciate the course.

We did itin November 04 through DCL and in 11/03 on our own. Our Recommendation, do it with DCL. It is cheaper and you are guarnteed that the ship will wait for you. There is time after to do a little shopping. U think the T time was 8am.

I thought about doing it, but heard mixed reviews as well. We drove by the course & it looked pretty hilly & narrow from the few holes we could see. If there was a chance to golf more than once, then I would take the sticks with me. One time to golf is not enough for me to justify dragging them along. Yes you can rent clubs, but you never know what your going to get...
