Poor me. I HAD to make reservations for a last minute trip today ;) Anyways, the only moderate with availability for my dates was POR. I'm from the bayou myself so never have really considered this resort before. On the spot I requested Magnolia Terrace in the Mansions. Is this a good building? We'll just be DH (49) and myself (44) and I thought the Mansions might be quieter than AB. Any suggestions for a great stay at POR would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jennifer

I, like you, made a spur of the moment decision on one of the Mansions after staying at the AB. I chose Paterri Place. So I'm curious too about the Mansions.

We are two adults too so I was hoping to leave the trundle beds for those with families who might need them. I do love the setting at AB. Maybe it's the Florida girl in me. :goodvibes But I am always looking for a new experience in the World.

We love Magnolia Terrace, although I am considering trying the bayou on our next trip ;)
Magnolia Terrace is a short walk (over the bridge) to the main pool, and on to the food court, etc. It is very beautiful, and usually very quiet and relaxing :goodvibes

I stayed there about 5 years ago, loved it. Request a courtyard view, there were rose bushes outside across from our door.

We LOVED magnolia terrace. It was the building we stayed in on our first trip to WDW. The grounds are beautiful. I thought MT was the prettiest of the mansion buildings, but all were nice. I hope you get it and have just as magical of a time as DH and I did. I truly believe that trip saved our marriage.

Being from Louisiana, too, I am a bit uneasy about staying here. Will we like it since we've seen/stayed in the real thing? When are you going? We requested Magnolia Terrace, too. I'd like to know which one this is...from the pictures.

We're going to be at POR for a long weekend 4/15-4/18. (A birthday present to me from DH  ) I know what you mean about staying in a Louisiana themed resort. I've read posts by people from the Northwest who don't care for the Wilderness Lodge. For our family the WL is wildly exotic! We had a lovely stay at POFQ though. The only thing I'd recommend against is trying the Louisiana style food at the food court. Tastes nothing like Mawmaw's!

I think that Magnolia Terrace is the one modeled on a Creole plantation house but I'm not sure. There are pictures of the exterior on Deb Wills' site.

Have fun!

(Did I mention what a great husband I have? :teeth: )

Magnolia Terrace is a good building/excellent location. We stayed away from Oak Manor as it is smoking. We stayed in Paterre Place last Sept and they have just finished the rehab on that building. It was extremely nice and the location was okay, not ideal like Magnolia Terrace, but I would stay there again in given the opportunity.
