Magnolia Terrace at POR - a preferred room?

I know this question has probably been asked a million times.....but does anyone know if you have to pay "extra" to stay in Magnolia Terrace?

Last year we stayed at CBR and were allocated Jamaica block - no 44. initially I had contacted resort to request Martinique or Barbados, but on arrival was informed these were preferred rooms and would be extra, ended up just staying in Jamaica, and LOVED IT!!

We liked it because we were given a ground (first) floor corner room, with a 30 second walk to our small pool and beach area, 50 second walk in opposite direction to the bus stop, and only a 5 minute walk across the beach to Old Port Royale.

Looking at the map of POR, block 85 Magnolia terrace, looks to be the same idea? Is this correct?

What are the chances or getting this block if requested??

You pay extra for a water view room. If the room doesn't face a pool or the river, then you'll pay a standard rate for the room.

There are no preferred sections, in that you can get them by paying extra. Magnolia Terrace is a much sought out section and and so all you can do is request it on your reservation and ask again at check in. Just like building 18 is popular in AB sections 18 is one of the prime HC buildings in that section as well.
