Just like on Princess boards, most of the vocal crowd AGAINST the video screens are people that THINK they won't like it. Instead of experiencing the screens and then returning to say they dislike them, it's speculation.
I sailed aboard the Grand Princess which has the MUTS. I LOVED the feature. Even during the day it was a nice touch to watch a movie out by the pool. If I wanted a quiet pool to lounge by or to hear music, there were alternative pools to visit. The system Princess used was remarkable in that you could literally walk around the corner into the area next to the main pool and you could not hear the sound system. It's no different than the movie theaters indoors. If you walk by you MIGHT hear some of what is going on, but you can just move away a bit and you don't have any idea it's there. But for those that choose to be in the theater or in the pool area, it is a nice feature.
Carnival is also adding some screens on their ships. These things are VERY expensive. The cruise lines would not be adding them if they were not popular features with those that experience them.
So please, before you weigh in that you would hate this, give it a chance before you wail. Once you experience it, I think you'll find it a nice addition and option. And if it is not your cup of tea, there is plenty of open deck space and public rooms you can go escape to.
And yes - we had a balcony three decks below the MUTS on the Grand and we were not in the least disturbed by the movies at night (daytime we were too busy to ever check).
Kudos to
DCL for adding a nice new attraction.
