Didn't see a new thread for this, so I thought I'd start one. This was posted on the "Live From the May Repositioning Cruise" thread on page 92 by tap & dap:

"Dry Dock Changes

The President of the Cruise Line spoke this morning and talked about the following changes in Dry Dock:

The spa area will be remodelled and pushed all the way to the front of the ship and windows will look out over the front of the ship they will add special private rooms for couples massages.

THIS IS THE BEST
On the upper deck of the ship they are adding a jumbo tron type display so that they can show movies under the stars and also enhance the sailaway parties will be 24 feet wide and I think 15 feet tall.

The conference rooms are being eliminated and replaced with more childrens areas, they will be computer simulations and actually allow the kids to pretend to dock the ship.

On Castaway Cay they are adding swimming with the stingrays

More ships are coming as soon as the exchange rates are better

2007 should see new ports of call mainly from the United States, no plans yet for Hawaii or Foreign Ports.

Think that covers the highlights.

Off to see Don Ducky Williams now.

Tom and Diana
"

:sunny: I can't wait! Anyone know when the stingray area will be opened at CC??? It all sounds terrific! :sunny:

Ill be on the Magic in Feb 06.

Lets get that stingray swim done BEFORE that!

One comment I'd like to head off right now:

I have been hearing that since I heard it myself at the Captain's round table back in May of 2003. Don't get hopes up too high for that one.

One of the other cruise lines has one of those big jumbotron type screens that also bill it as "movies under the stars". As long as it's not on all day, so you don't feel like you're at Vegas. Can you imagine the saving of the chairs to watch a movie on deck? Yikes :earseek:

All of our cruises up to this point have been on Princess, we were on the Caribbean Princess this past summer and loved "movies under the stars". We had to get tickets ahead of time for the movie we wanted to see and there was no chair saving. They walked around and gave you popcorn to eat while watching the movie. We are looking forward to our first Disney cruise in Sept, but can't wait to get back to Princess either.

And I'll lose weight when sugar, fat and carbs are calorie-free! :rotfl2:

Come on DCL, we might wait forever for either to happen.

Too bad they aren't adding one or two "endless pools." I would be nice if some lap swimming could be done. Maybe with the spa expansion they would make some room for it?

:hyper2: :hyper: Anyone Know when these modifications are going to be completed????I'm on the Nov 19th 2 stop CC thanksging cruise...hope it's done by then....

Tap and Dap said they were the modifications scheduled for Dry Dock the first two weeks in October.

i hope bermuda is one of the new ports in 2007! I am dying to go to bermuda again and would love to cruise there, esp aboard DCL!!!! When will 2007 rates be announced again??? :flower:

Those are some great things. Did he mention how he was going to move the SPA forward? What happens with the work out room and the bridge tour walkway?

The changes sound great!
I was hoping that a new ship was on it's way already. I'd love to see a Bermuda sailing, or even a sailing up the east coast to NY.

Of 2005? 2006?

We sailed on the Grand Princess last November which has the Movies Under the Stars. That is a terrific addition to the pool area and certainly an added attraction on deck at night. It was like a drive in movie, but with sea air!

I know what you mean, and the exchange rate does not seem to be stopping other cruise companies from building ships.

It's Princess that has this as calls it Movies Under the Stars or MUTS. It has it's fans and people who hate it. One of the problems is when they keep it on all day, it's noisy and it's hard to get the lounge chairs. It seems to be one of those things that people either love or hate.

I for one think movies under the stars is a horrible idea. Glad we're doing the repo before dry dock, because I will not be on a ship with MUTS.
