MagicBands question

I'm not sure if I'm posting this question in the correct forum, so if a moderator needs to move it, that would be helpful.

On our last trip in 2015, I put my debit card on my room and I paid for things with my MagicBand using my checking account.

This trip will be very different. This time we have two rooms and my daughter is now an adult. She and her friend have one room, and my husband and I have the other room.

We all have our own separate credit cards and/or bank accounts, and all of us would like our own credit card/debit card on our individual MagicBand. Is that possible?

Moved you to Resorts because nothing is on the MagicBand. Credit and Debit cards are linked to your room account and the MB provides the link to your room account.

Setting up credit cards at the resort is best explained by the resort experts. :)

You'll have to deal with it at the front desk to link each profile to each payment method and do some test charges the first day to make sure it works.

The other alternative is to keep one card linked to both profiles in each room and the non card holder makes payments at the front desk on the way back to the room every night.

The other option is that she can create her own MDE and then you can invite her as family. Then you both can make fastpasses for yourself or for the whole group, you can both make dining reservations and she can set up her own credit card linked to her MDE account.

Once she makes her MDE account go into your profile to your friends and family list. Find her name and click the update button then invite to connect. You will enter her email then she will have to confirm the connection on her MDE and you should be set.

The less complicated option is just go to the front desk. But if she is an adult and there is a chance you may separate later in the day and want to do 4th fastpasses alone it might be worth her having her own account.

Most replies to similar threads state that, while they claim you can assign individual cards to different magic bands, in practice most reported that it really works out to be one card assigned to each room.

It's fine. DD has a lot of Disney Gift cards and some cash. She can always pull out her wallet. As usual, I will use my credit card for my room and end up paying for more than I planned.

Maybe someday they will figure out how to individualize credit card accounts for each MB. I was just hoping that they had already done that.

And haven’t seen that it’s most people having problems. I’ve seen plenty of posts indicating that it worked out just fine.

The key is to check during your stay to see if it’s working correctly.

Remember that complaints are made more often than compliments, so those that have no issues don’t tend to talk about it and don’t tend to post in threads about it.

They have. It’s just glitchy, which means that *some* people might have issues while others won’t. Set it up once you get there (they don’t have the ability to set up multiple room charge accounts online) and check that same day to see if it’s working. Keep checking.

This, all of this. :thumbsup2

We have been successful in 6+ trips over the past 3/4 years or so when my sil and I share an AOA suite with our kids. We each put down a cc'd for ourselves and our kids (2 cards) and so far so good. We do check the first evening or next morning to be sure the correct people are on the correct folio but its easy as you can see the name of the person who made the purchase.

Awesome. Hopefully it's getting better and like a few of you said, the trick is to verify and the ones having the negative experience probably just choose to live with it and report back that it didn't work.
