After the amazing response to my last question, I thought I'd ask another. 6 adults going 11/4-11/11 and staying off-property; all have MDE on their phones. We have never been during MagicBands and are wondering if we should consider them since they have limited use? $20 each on the Disney store - so the equivalent of one day of Genie+.

Will you be purchasing PhotoPass? Some attractions use RFID to link your ride photos to your MDE account.

Otherwise, I see no reason to spend money on MagicBands when staying offsite.

Thanks - I'm not 100% sold on photopass since it's so expensive and I don't know if we'd get the value out of it.

I've done it in the past, but I thought I've read that photopass photographers are accepting guest cameras now and I do plan on bringing a DSLR with me.

If you have Bluetooth enabled on your phone for the MDE app, ride photos should auto-link to your account but that can be hit or miss.

Right now, all you would use them for is park entry, and getting out a ticket card for that is easy. But once Genie comes along, it might be more convenient to scan a MB if you’re going to ride multiple attractions using Genie+ and/or ILL$. That said, you can always wait until you’re there. If anyone decides a MB would be helpful, it would be easy to buy and link them there.

We almost exclusively stay off-site and appreciate the convenience of a MB for park entry and formerly FP+. I like to put my "puck" on my Apple watch so I'm only wearing one "band". We are going again in January and 1 or our 5 does not have a MB, as others have stated, we will likely wait until we get there to determine if she will want to purchase a MB.

To be fair, someone could put their ticket card on a lanyard so it isn't just MB or Phone.
It has been decades since I've worn a watch, and I wasn't a fan even pre-cell phone. Even when I wear a fitbit I put it on my ankle. DH and DD want MB's but I am trying to decide if I even want one or if I should go with the lanyard/ticket card.

Last trip (offsite in August 2021) I used my iPhone as the only time I needed my "ticket" was entering the park.

This next trip coming up with getting Memory Maker, Genie+, etc I'm going to wear/use a MagicBand.
