MagicBands coming?

I mean, do I know 30 days ahead if I'm gonna want to go on a water ride??!!
If you wait til 30 days, the FP+s are going to be very picked over. You have to know 60 days before! And food? Make your reservations 6 mos out! (Needless to say it was rough for me...)

BUT, I loved Magic Bands (not FP+)

While I mostly go to WDW (2X a year), I also go to DL each year. The Magic bands would be great. But NOT the 30/60 day advance FP+ system. The bands would make it faster to scan at the ride entrances, IMHO. Also easier for kids not to have to be handed their cards at each ride entry.

First, I think Magic Bands rock. I was prepared to dislike them at WDW but they are so cool in so many ways. I am a total convert and hope they bring the to DLR.

MBs are not universally loved at WDW but the majority of people do really like them. That is rare IMO and a testament to how useful they are.

MBs are not the same as FP+, and I think Disney has been very insightful not to try to force FP+ at DLR. MaxPass is a good compromise for DLR. That could be easily added to MBs.

...we noticed something at a couple of the stand alone food carts throughout DCA. They seem to now have the magicband scanners at the place where the Cast Members swipe your card! My Dad asked the CM at the second cart and she said they were hand-me-downs from Florida, and she suspects that the resort will be getting the bands soon...
Those might just be the scanners for contactless payment, like Apple Pay. Many (most?) locations at DLR now support Apple Pay.
...I would even be fine with an apple watch app, just anything so that I don't have to constantly pull out my phone.
It would be nice if the Disneyland App would support "Add to Apple Wallet", which is quite common for many tickets (airlines, concerts, sports). Once in the Apple Wallet, the QR or barcode will appear on the Apple Watch.

It is possible to add an AP to the Apple Wallet using third party apps, there are several (Pass2U worked for me). While scanning the Apple Watch does work, I have found it more convenient to scan the AP.

Hope the scanners are for Apple Pay! And agree that having the DLR app support "Add to Apple Wallet" would be nice.

How? We don't receive tickets any longer. We get mailed the magic bands (not tickets) or asked if we already own some to use. My inlaws purchase one day tickets, and yes, they use their tickets. But they are not staying at the hotels, which is why they get paper tickets.

My first step would be calling customer service and asking for options to obtain the physical plastic tickets. There are many reasons that someone may not want to use MB including, but not limited to, an allergy.

Not saying to lie, of course. But I am saying there are reasons for them to offer the option still to everyone especially as it's not that the cards have been phased out.

Apple Pay is now accepted property wide at all Disney Merchandise and QS/ODV food locations and has been since the end of the summer.

I’ve made impromptu visits to Disney World, and just went to the ticket counter outside of the entrance and told them I forgot my magic band. They issued me a plastic hard ticket, no problem.

If you are an AP holder the yellow discount card can also be used as a ticket, for fastpasses, etc.

I don't think that we should hold our breath for magic bands at DL based on 1 CM's speculation.

We purchased my son's family's tickets separate from the hotel and linked them to his MB, but when he forgot his magic band one day, his tickets worked just as well. Same with our APs.

I thought I read that these are for Apple Pay / Android Pay (is that a thing?). Could be wrong though.

I was able to use apple pay at the carts in January, I assume that's what it's for. Still, magic bands would be amazing. Unlikely but amazing.
