Magicbands and tickets purchased separately

I think I know the answer from researching but wanted to run it by the folks here to verify.

We booked our WDW resort separate from our theme park tickets. We then linked our tickets to the resort reservation. Am I correct in thinking that the tickets will work on the magic bands we got for the resort stay since they are linked? Also, will they work with any active magic band? We purchased custom bands last time we visited and are thinking about using them again.

As long as the bands and tickets are linked on MDE you are good to go.

Also if you deactivate your old bands (to save them from wear & tear) Disney should be offering you new magic bands since you're a resort guest. If you notice on your MDE account there should be notifications regarding your magic bands, for example: "Pick your color options or we'll pick them for you" or "Magic Band due date options". If you decide to use your old band you can "Decline" Disney from mailing you new ones as well.
