Magicbands and the dinning plan?

Hello!

I was wondering if anyone has ever had any issues using their magic band to pay for their meals when on the dinning plan. If you did, what did Disney do? Did they try to make you pay out of pocket? Or were they able to fix it?

If you do have an issue with your MB, which doesn't happen very often, you will be expected to pay for your meal. Simply take the receipt to your resort front desk and they will reimburse you for your meal.

We had an issue last week at Epcot where the MB's were not working for food/snacks - for a good few hours. The CM's said Disney had a virus - I can't believe that. People were understandably very unhappy! All they were asked to do was pay cash or credit card. We were never told that any of the money would be reimbursed and retrospectively subtracted from the credits.

That's horrible! I hope Disney got that virus taken care of. I wouldn't want that to happen on my trip. After my family has saved up all that money to go, we probably won't have a lot of extra money for food. That's why some people buy the dinning plan, so they don't have to worry about it.

First time using MagicBands this December..Hope that it doesn't happen then!

Thanks for everyone's feedback on this! I was unsure whether to lug around credit cards and such (not that they're sizeable, just less to carry is better) because of having a magic band, but if it's not foolproof, it would be awfully embarrassing to have it as our only mode of payment.
