Magicbands and Rented Points

I am looking at renting points for a DVC room and dropping my reservation I currently have.

If I drop the reservation and get the DVC room and link it to my MDE profile, will I still receive MB's before my trip like I would have with the regular room?

We were hoping to use the MB's to surprise the kiddos.

Yes because the reservation is in your name as the person coming. Usually, you cannot change your reservation once it is made because of the points. The point's owner has to add anything you might want like a dining program. When you purchase your tickets they can be linked. We had no problems when we rented points.

I had surmised that it would be treated like any other reservation with all the on-site perks (just not DVC perks).

I currently have our tickets (us 4) and one breakfast (all 11 of us) linked to my account.
