Do it whenever its convenient for you. There is no advantage or disadvantage to doing it now or later.

If you know 100% that your trip won't be cancelled and you see styles that you want, do it now. The inventory is extremely spotty and there's a good chance that a style that's available today won't be available tomorrow.

If you are purchasing the bands available on MDE, purchase when you see the ones your want as there is not guarantee they will be there later.

One thing to note though is that you must purchase ALL bands at the same time. Once you purchase for the first person, if you finish your transaction the rest of the people in your party will be unable to order bands.

One more thing to add for consideration: you never know when they will increase the prices. They don't usually announce this, the price just goes up and if you waited, now you have to pay the higher price. I don't think they usually increase basic magic band prices very often, but in the current times, you just never know.

I would vote for buying them now. Even if your trip gets postponed to a different date, the magic bands will still be valid.

If you want solid color ones, the disboarders are reporting that they have been in short supply for pre-sale (although there's a plethora when you get to the parks) so if you exclusively want solid and see the colors you like - grab em'. If not, then you can set a weekly reminder to go in there and see what designs are posted that you may love and grab those instead.

Not to jinx it (because I still have to place my own order) but today there are black, navy, and purple bands on the preorder page.

Ok: I've been wanting a solid blue band, and there's been the "light navy" one in there from time to time. It's been gone for awhile, but reappeared today. I also liked a purple iris band, but it's of course not there now. I'm surprising my little boy with a trip in August, and knew that he liked the metallic silver band. That one has been there lately, but of course, today it's gone, but the blue one is there (as of right now, ha). I would've pulled the trigger on our order, but of course, they both can't be there at the same time. This has been going on, like a loop, for some time now! People in the know: should I just wait until this summer to do it? I have yellow and pink bands from previous trips and wanted to add the blue one. I really love the "original" blue, but I will take the navy......

When you order them from MDE you don't need to do anything. They are automatically linked to the person you order them for. They're ready to go!

Aren't they meant to be releasing the Magic Band Plus sometime this year? I'm holding off on ordering for our December trip (even though I saw the solid black ones today...) until I see the prices on those.

The hardest part of linking them is reading the tiny print on the back of the MB. I think CMs at the resorts (and maybe store personnel) can scan them and link that way, but I'm not sure.
