We have magic’s bands from 5 years ago - is there any way to figure out if the battery in them is still good before we go down to WDW in July?

Also- can anyone tell me anything about the Magicband+? If we only have one in our group (for my son) will that be enough to link all of our memory maker photos and ride photos?

There is no way to determine if the battery is still good and the design is such that you can't change the battery. MB serve two functions and only one of those requires the battery to be working. Several older threads on that subject.

They will still work for touchpoints (opening resort room doors, using as payment, entering parks, etc). It's only the long range functions that would be lost if the battery died (ride photos (unless they have a touchpoint after the ride, then you can still get them), having your name pop up on the interactive things in some rides, etc.).

Simple solution if you all prefer MBs: Take old ones and buy one new upon arriving for one person to wear. That way, you'll get the in-ride videos and photos without spending a lot.

We recently used some that were four years old and had no issues! ♥️ I do always deactivate them on the website after a trip and re-activate before a new one -- don't know if that makes a difference, but it does in my brain. 😂

Just back from Disney. We have the original Magic bands. All worked well, no issues.
