ok,
so after 10 days in October of non stop magic band issues.. (I estimated close to 10 hours of my trip spend in Guest Relations and Concierge lines) We decide to take a small weekend trip. (this coming up weekend)

OK, I HAVE my bands. I have my AP loaded onto it and my mom has her 4 day ticket I purchased loaded on and my DD has a 2 day base ticket loaded we need to upgrade once we get there.

Since I booked they have been assaulting me with emails about customizing my bands, etc.. I called WDW twice and was told oh don't worry we know you have bands. It will be OK.

Eventually the emails dwindled and this morning I wake up to an emaill happily announcing that I can pick up my bands at the desk upon check in.

I DON'T WANT THEM.. I HAVE THEM ALREADY.. THIS IS WHY YOUR SYSTEM IS COSTING CLOSE TO 1.5 BILLION AND CLIMBING!

I just try calling WDW and at 7:45 am told the wait is over 40 minutes to speak to someone. So naturally the next thing I do is turn to my Dis people..

Has anyone had this happen to them? I have tickets loaded onto my old colored bands that I have no paper tickets for. (thanks to the new systems in place) Are they able to override the new bands so I can keep my bands I planned on using?

OK rant over.. thanks for listening and any feedback would be appreciated. I was finally looking forward to going once I got our tickets loaded and FP+ done. Now I remember why I booked my 1 week fall vacation in Disneyland! lol!

Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your question, but I just wanted to extend my sympathies! I have no doubt that I will be in your exact boat within the next six weeks. Not looking forward to it!

Good luck! And let us know how it pans out!

Yes, it happened to us several months ago. Check your MDE account to check that the bands that you have are still showing active. The castmember checking you it will also check that all components are active i.e. room key, charging, park passes etc. The only problem we had was extra magic hours, for some reason the bands didn't work that, but that was back when they were still giving out room keys. They will have gray bands at check-in. We asked to keep them as well, just in case. We ap holders and go at least once a month. We now each have every color band and have started to duplicate. Seems like a waste. We would rather see them find a way to reuse the bands and keep ticket prices stable:confused3

Totally agree it is a waste of time and money, however do not fear. The tickets are not linked to your bands, they are linked to your MDE. Whether you use the old bands or the new bands you will receive at check-in, they will all work (as long as they are showing as 'active' on MDE).

I do hope that, eventually, Disney will introduce a method of annotating on MDE that you do not need a new MagicBand. However, it is my opinion that there will still be people who want to collect all the different colours so will still order new bands even though they don't need them.

It is wasteful and I have had no luck with this. I have 6 bands here. Three of us went in Oct then Dec. I have 9 more bands in the way for a short trip in May then a split stay in August. We are going to link them together in a chain and hang them on our tree this year surrounded by our Disney ornaments. I tried to reuse our bands but it seems that's not what they are doing for. Now. In MDE all the bands say active so I wonder if any band will work

You think that's bad, talk about a waste of money, we are leaving on Friday, doing a split stay TWO reservations(4 people in the room).....guess how many sets of MB I have received popcorn::

FIVE!!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1:
I have 20 magic bands currently in my possession:rotfl2: seems like a good way to spend money huh!

Thanks! Good to know others had dealt with this. I'm just a practical person. I don't want to waste these bands.. OH I already have gray ones too because I had a split stay with a friend's DVC too. My pile of bands will be growing. lol They have to figure out a way to stop the waste.

yes that was my thoughts too.. that the MDE had everything stored on there. Hoping it all goes well. I just wish they had a button you could click that says.. "NO Thank you. I will be using the bands registered in MDE for my upcoming trip" This way if you want them you can use them and if you want another color you can go for it!" lol..

lol! like the ornament idea.. you can all order red and green and go with that! lol! Too funny. I can't figure out how to delete anything out of MDE.. I have old used tickets that are empty and I want to clear out the file so I can view it better. This is only 6 months of it.. I can't imagine 3 years from now what my account will look like.. Disneyland, here I come!! :drive: lol

That is scary! lol! hope one of those sets work for you! pixiedust:

seems like simple fix would be a place to check "reuse this band". Just received our set for next month, I'm afraid I'll pack the wrong set as we already have them from October. Wonder if I should take all four in case there's a problem. Would really love it if the dining plan credits would be active one arrival so I don't have to go by the Polynesian first but no go from what I'm told.

i get the whole wastefulness attitude, but it seems to me that it's better to have too many than too few

As a DVC member with lots of split stays, I have over 10 MBs in my name alone. I do not customize them, they are given to me on check in. They used to give them to me, but now I have been told that if I refuse them, they will be recycled. I do not sweat it. I have told Disney my thoughts, I keep my original one, from my October trip, and it has worked 98% flawlessly.

We have reused the same set twice, but they are pretty raggedy and I don't think they will last another week, so I am ordering new ones. I hope I can put my AP on another MB.

Don't worry OP. I'm sure that ticket price increase over the weekend will pay for all those wasted magic bands.

I hope things go far better for you this time around! pixiedust:

If you have extra Magic Bands, sell them on eBay. People buy them to either collect them or use them to unlock content on the Disney Infinity game. It will make the cost of your trip a bit cheaper!!

Your old and new bands will work the same and both are tied to your same ticket. If nothing else, use the grey as backup in case some one loses a band :)
