Magicband-How long will it last?

We just booked a Disney package for December 2018. It was with the Disney Gift Vacation Package and comes with a special looking Magicband. (Just normal rates with a special magicband). They must be personalized by December 1, 2017and will be shipped by 12/15/17. How long do the bands last? Over a year? Thanks for your help.

If your talking about the material lasting. Yes, they will. They are also linked to your package reservation number. So they will work when you get there. We have bands from yrs ago linked to our annual passes that still work.

Thank you Timothy02359. We were part of the Magicband pilot program. Back then, we were told to get new bands the following year in case they wouldn't stay effective. I guess the technology is more viable than first believed.

I have the one I got that was part of the pilot program way back when and it still works, I use it all the time.

We were part of the pilot program too. We were told a minimum of 2 years. We've since exchanged them for the new ones as they are lighter and less bulky. But you have lots of time to use them.
I remember during the pilot program that the average repeat guest comes every 2 or 3 years so they wanted them to last at least that long.

The Entrance and FP touchpoints can read the RFID MB info even if the battery in the MB no longer works.

What you may notice is that ride photos and ride videos may not be sent to your MDE account if your MB battery no longer has power to send info to the ride sensors.
