We check in to our resort on Jan. 2, but are traveling down on the 1st and staying 1 night off property. We have tickets to early morning magic at DHS the morning of the 2nd. Will our magic bands be activated if we have not checked into the resort? My parents had this problem once before when they went straight to the park before check-in. TIA

I thought the magic bands arrived at your home already activated? Otherwise how could they be used on Magical Express before hotel check in?

The Early Morning tickets should be separate from your reservation tickets... as long as they are linked to the magic bands they should work. Also just do online check-in now so you'll be checked in already that morning.

Not quite true. You need valid park tickets in addition to your early Morning reservations. So the OP does need to be able to access her tickets. OP, can you stop at your resort before heading to the park? Otherwise, I would definitely do online check in. Your Magic Bands are linked to your MDE account, so you should be able to enter with no problems as long as you have tickets in your MDE account. But stopping to check in at your resort before the park might help.

Your magic bands are shipped to you activated and ready to go. A hotel check in doesn't matter. As long as you have valid tickets and the magic band is linked to your mde account (it's shipped from Disney linked to you), you're all set

Disney wont mail magic bands to Canada so we pick them up at our on site resort when we arrive. Where do we go to activate them? Are they the same as our Annual Passes that we activate at the theme park on our first admission? First visit since everything went so electronic, lol.
Thanks,
Tony

Again, MBs do not need to be activated.
Once they are given to you by the resort (or, in the USA, mailed to you,)
they are ready to use.

But, you do need to specifically activate a new AP.
And that needs to be done (at a ticket booth or Guest Relations) BEFORE you go to a park's actual entrance gates.
The new AP will not "start counting down" its year until you finally do go thru a
park gate, but you need to stop at a ticket booth or Guest Relations sometime BEFORE you go to a park's
gate. (And, be sure to have a legal photo ID with you for the AP activation.)

Thanks. So I can activate my Annual Passes at Disney Springs when we arrive at the resort on the 3rd and they wont start counting down until we go throught the gate on the 4th? So we wont have any delay at rope drop, just swipe our magic bands and we're in?
Thanks again,
Tony

Your right... brain was thinking of party entrance.

Thank you everyone, sorry for any confusion I may have caused. My dilemma now is that the early morning magic tickets do no appear to be linked with my magic bands on MDE. I called and spoke with 2 different CMs. The first in dining and the 2nd in internet support. Neither of them were able to help me. The CM in internet support said to call back and gave me a reservation phone number to call. I haven't been able to get through. Any suggestions?

I still don’t understand. Does your magic morning reservation show in your MDE account? Any active bands you have link to all reservations, tickets & fastpasses listed in your MDE. Nothing goes directly to your magic band, it goes to your MDE & that information is relayed to Disney scanners & tap points by the Magic Band.

What is it that makes you think there is a problem?

The confirmation is listed under MDE, but it doesn't list my husband and children. It has my name and then guest 1,2,etc. All of my other reservations and FP have them linked and their names listed.

When you arrive at MK, you will check in with a CM. That’s when you will get your wrist bands. They will be your guest 2, 3 etc. Then they will tap their band for their park entry. Their magic bands just need to be linked for their park admission tickets. The Magic morning is a dining reservation, not a ticket entitlement. Dining doesn’t need every guest named.
